I'm back for a while, because I thought by the time I'd eaten my turkey & Swiss wrap, Richard would be back to pick up the computer.  I saved a piece of turtle cheesecake to share with him when he gets here.

So...

DR elmore - A voicing/arranging question for ya'...

What's the best way to redistribute and/or revoice and/or re-write a song which calls for 10-part harmony in some places when you only have six real singers out of a group of 15 people who were all supposed to be able to sing well.  And read music.

;)

DR JMK would of course have the lyrics somewhere.

And they actually appear in one of the "E-Z Play" editions of the sheet music.

That sounds like our choir. Except only one can sing  and there are only three people. Singing four-part harmony.

Well, I also have to deal with two trios, two quartets and one quintet, so...  :-\

Oh, and somehow made a young woman cry today during rehearsal.  -I believe that's a first for me.

OH!  Something that may or may not be of interest to DR Tomovoz...

We have about four cast members from Australia.  One from Sydney, one from Melbourne, and two from places in northern Queensland.  It turns out the Melburnian was/is(?) the lead singer for the group Eclipse.  -If that means anything to you.  ???

Jose - We had dinner at Guapo's in Shirlington on Friday - I had a very tasty steak quesadilla - before the show on Friday night.

Saturday's early lunch, around 11:30 a.m., was at a restaurant called Hamlet something in the lovely mall around the Crystal City metro.  Very nice penne bolegnese from their specials menu.  (The hotel had allowed us a slightly late check-out of 1:30, so we explored the underground mall a little before Metro-ing back to Pentagon City, checking out, and then cabbing back to Shirlington for the Sat. matinee.)

The theater will still call a cab for you, and there was several cab-calls on the list, and at least as far as we could tell, some of the cab drivers felt no compunction about not coming all the way to the theater and just picking up somebody down the block in Shirlington who hadn't asked for a cab to be called, or else picking up someone at the theatre who just got downstairs before the actual people who asked for a cab.  After a half hour wait and putting in a new order, we actually saw a cab that was clearly meant for us stopping for other people and we very quickly called the cab co. and told them to please tell the guy not to pick up those other people.  Luckily, we ended up getting that cab, but can't undertand why that driver even stopped to talk to those other people when they clearly were not in front of the Signature Theatre but over a block away.

Saturday's cab-call situation was great and on time!!!

I know it's bolognese, not bolegnese, but I didn't feel like editing a post I had already edited.  :)

I am curious how many Dear Readers have attended their high shcool reunions, and which anniversary they were that they attended?  I attended my 10-year, which is when I was at my hottest (all down hill since then); and now I will be going to my 40th in October (unless I can figure out a way to get out of it.

Our class started out getting together every 5 years. The first one reunion I went to was the 15th, and people told me that it was smaller than the 10th. I was working in England on the 5th, and also out of the country for the 10th.

I went to the 15th with a guy I was friends with in HS. (My husband did not want to go...can't say that I blame him!) We had stayed friends and when he returned to Atlanta to work as a Delta pilot, we resumed our friendship, but it was soon apparent that we had nothing in common, but he got along great with my ex, so we saw him a lot.

He gave me rides home from school every day and I was his advisor on matters of pursing females. (He didn't have much luck with them, being funny but not too attractive.) When we went to the reunion, I acted as his "agent" and talked to different girls he'd had crushes on in HS to see if they were single. When I mentioned that he was now a pilot for Delta, well they perked right up and asked me to bring him over.

Funny how things can change!

My ex got custody of my friend in the divorce!

That was an internet joke that has been doing the rounds for years Julie.

By coincidence I've just (30 minutes ago) recorded three versions of "Baby Elephant Walk"  (fortunately I don't have a version with the lyrics)

You know they played that song at my last physical!

I believe that DR Julie may have in fact sung my exceedingly lovely choral arrangement of BABY ELEPHANT WALK with quite possibly the worst Hal David lyric ever (as I joke when we perform it, you know you're in trouble when "safari" is supposed to rhyme with "carry."

That was at the Seattle Mystery Bookshop wasn't it?  I hope, Mr. Druxman, that you will do a signing in Washington.  I am looking forward to reading SHADOW WATCHER.
It was at the Seattle Mystery Bookstore and also Barnes & Noble in Bellevue.

In case I don't make it up to Washington, SHADOW WATCHER is available from Amazon.com.  Thanks.
