I will say that from what I've heard there was a huge effort to get pets and take them to shelters set up in various flooded towns. There are some great stories about found pets.

I didn't realize that August: Osage County had already been published.  It is on its way from Amazon!

I believe it came out shortly after it's original run in Chicago.  -It's actually quite interesting reading some of the more "argumentative" scenes, and what is said during all those overlapping lines.

There was a photo of Sean McDermott on his website of him with his niece.  That man has some guns on him!

I've been meaning to get it.  I'm hoping to see the new Tracey Lett's play when I'm in Chicago in August.

And if you happened to catch him in Ring Of Fire on Broadway, well, he also has some... Well... Let's just say he should have worn a dance belt.

On a happier note...
 Cedar Rapids Aftermath

Trinity, a lost Weiner dog, gives kisses to her owners Oran Glade and Sue Jarvis of SW Cedar Rapids who have been searching tirelessly for the dog since June 16th. Trinity was found at the temporary animal shelter set up at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids Friday . Trinity received a microchip before going home. "From now on she's gonna be super-glued to me," said Jarvis.

That is a nice happy ending.

Cedar Rapids Aftermath
June 20, 2008
MARY CHIND/THE REGISTER

Katrina Holub is thrilled when she learns her two cats will be allowed to stay in the same cage together after she located them at the Kirkwood College emergency animal shelter in Cedar Rapids Friday. Holub holds Nai Nai, a cat she adopted just three months ago. She had put in a request to have the animals rescued from her SW Cedar Rapids home and will continue to leave them at the shelter until she has a place to live. "Momma's looking for a new home," she tells the cats during her visit.

Can someone familiar with the Doyle Company explain something to me--are there are offstage musicians, too, or at least a pianist?  For example, on Another Hundred People?  Or was it pre-programmed Disclavier stuff, or somesuch?  Thanks--need the info for my review.

There were no musicians off-stage.  However, upstage right there was another keyboard and some mallet percussion set up.  They were all played live, nothing was sequenced.  Most of the more difficult keyboard stuff was played by Matt Castle who was established as a pianist/music director/conductor before he was cast in John Doyle's Company.  -And he played "strolling" bass in the show too.

I believe there are a few shots where they show them playing upstage left.

Thank you all for the welcome home wishes.  I've been over on the Cleopatra couch and will now get ready for a good night's sleep (which you don't get in a hospital!)

My home care nurse is coming between 8 and 9am to give me my first shot of the day and to draw blood.  For the second shot, either Richard has to administer it or I have to do it myself :P  Fortunately, I think tomorrow is the last day for these.

Richard's older brother and his family are bringing dinner to us tomorrow evening.  Isn't that nice?

'night!

So sad about George Carlin.  When he was here he forgot his words several time and had to read part of it. He apologized profusely, but he was still really fun to see.

Back from rehearsal - a long rehearsal.  We worked from eleven to six with about fifteen minutes off to eat sandwiches.  It was a very productive rehearsal, however.  I actually somehow managed to stage the entire show - we'd already done the opening number, so that was done.  I had four full numbers where I had to do Kimmelography and one of them, the Sinatra/Sammy Davis, Jr. arrangement of Me And My Shadow, came out really well - very pleased with it, since I was making it up as we went along.  Kevin and Sean look great doing it, and once they have it in their bones it will be really fun.  The show's structure seems pretty good to me.  I adjusted a lot of the patter, cutting here, focusing there, making the jokes have a point - all that sort of thing.  It's going to be a good show, and the boys play off each other very well.
