I will have to seek out Advise and Consent. I am aware of the movie but I have not seen it.

Manchurian Candidate is excellent.

Actually, Raymond Scott did lead somewhat of a "double life", so maybe it's OK to have two of him.

One can never have enough Raymond Scott!

And the word of the day is: PROCRUSTEAN!
Which, if you blend it with the title of today's notes, you come up with PROCRUSTINATION: to produce conformity by violent or arbitrary means, but very slowly.

Good things should not be rushed, after all!

Good morning!

Wow! Another cool evening and morning! Couldn't believe my luck. This HAS to be the last of them, however. I see temps going into the 90s for the next week, and it's hard to cool down even a night from highs like those.

So much for having a second day off.

Yesterday, before der B and I headed to the store for a few items, there was a call from work, asking me to come in this afternoon and work from 3:30 to 9:30.

So, when we got to the store, I confirmed that I'll be there.

Looking over the daily schedule while Michelle (the assistant front end manager) made the appropriate notes, I asked what had happened.

"Oh, one of the girls didn't show up tonight and didn't call in, so we want to make sure we're covered."

She pointed to the name of the particular flake.  "I don't think I've met her," I commented.

"And you probably never will," Michelle shook her head.

We're having lots of this kind of fun this summer.  Just last Saturday I learned that one of the new gay guys on registers has been fired, for perpetual tardiness (a daily occurance for him, apparently).  And there have been a few others who have quickly disappeared.

Just as well.  We're also at the start of Russian Students Who Want To Work In The States Because We Pay So Well time, and have picked up a couple or three cashiers from that pool, including a fellow named Sergay, who resembles a young and cute Garrison Keillor, if that isn't too much of a contradiction.

Life at the store remains interesting.

Der B and I will still have time to go to the Farmer's Market - we'll just have to go early, instead of later.

Zilch on TV for me tonight. The NCIS episode is a rerun from last season which I recentl rewatched from the DVD set. So nothing of interest for me.

This is good since I need seriously to finish MAD MEN today. The Criterions involving Mishima come out a week from today, and I need to get to work on them. WALKER, TEXAS RANGER-Season Five is also a July 1 release, and it's a 7-disc set. Argh!
