DR Ron may have taken a nap and have been enjoying a Tangerine Dream.

Just saw the track listing for this four CD box set of Sondheim that's coming out in September.  Now, we'll just put aside that this box has been in the works for four years and had no release date until I announced Evening Primrose (the most anyone said to me was end of this year).  That is, I'm sure, just a coincidence.  There are, according to the press release, thirty-seven unreleased tracks.  No matter how I counted I could not come up with thirty-seven, unless there are separate tracks for the pieces in The Enclave and Invitation To A March.  I do hope they're not counting the Evening Primrose vocals because those have obviously been released.  But most of the unreleased tracks are Sondheim singing songs that have, in fact, been recorded elsewhere - by me, mostly on Unsung Sondheim, which also included The Enclave and Invitation To A March.  So, the demos are the thing here - if you want to hear Sondheim singing these songs.  The most interesting thing in the set are the demos from Saturday Night with Jack Cassidy and, of all people, Arte Johnson.

I does sound interesting. :) Who's releasing this?

A certain piano bench guy has just re-introduced me to the talent of Ben Folds.  I had only a passing knowledge of Mr Folds when he was Over The Hedge.

Over the hill and over the hedge.  Well I do live in a semi-rural area.

I've been "engaged" in an online auction for some outstanding lobby cards.  There is some heavy bidding and I've been going out of my mind giving up on some and upping my bids on others.

It's a rat race, I tells ya....and it's a crap shoot as to whether I'll win my ULTIMATE prize, the bids on which have doubled in the past half hour.

Every time I find something I really want, I encounter someone else with more money than I'm willing to spend.

Well, sir....I've got an economic stimulus check a-coming and let hells bells ring out loud and clear!

I am currently experimenting with burning "recorded" streaming web video to DVD.  For someone not technically savvy like me, it's a challenge.  We shall see if it works...

OMG! OMG! OMG!  I just won a set of 5 (count 'em 5) lobby cards that included ONE CARD I've never been able to win when it was offered by itself.  I've won the lot for $10.  That one card generally goes for $30-$50 WHEN it's put up.

So...I played a game of chicken and WON!

The real test is coming, though.  My bids are in.  And I'm sweating bullets that they'll be met or neared.  There is one set I won't let go no matter what.  But I'd love to have two others, as well.

There's a bidder called "gtposters" who is nickel-diming me on a bid for six beautiful lobby cards from "Words and Music."

He's upping his bids by $10 every two minutes.  He's gonna have to jump $100 to get the bid, but I hope he chickens out.

The thunderstorm has come and gone and so have my relatives.

And, no, there's really no correlation.  We all get along quite well, but my mom and sister are quite concerned about my aunt.  And my sister and I are concerned about how much my mother worries about and waits upon her younger sister.

I am still in my work environment, by the way.  As is "usual', someone who spent ALL DAY tweaking a document delivered it to me at a quarter to five to proof and edit before I left.

I spent the next 40 minutes on it, and that was the end of it.  The person who dumped it on me left immediately after giving it to me.

That's how URGENT it really was.

At any rate, I knew my auctions were going to be ending starting around 5:30 p.m. up to and just after 6 p.m., and the only way I could monitor them from home was to leave just at 5 p.m.

So...stuck here like so much fish.

Actually, the two CRUCIAL auctions end in just over 3 minutes.  One is the aforementioned 6-card "Words and Music", and the other is five (count 'em 5) beautiful full-color lobby cards from "The Gang's All Here".   In all my years of searching, these are the first batch I've seen, and the only time any card from that film was in good enough condition for me to bid on....and in this case, they are all worth bidding on.

One last lot that ends in just under 4 minutes is five cards from "Lucky Lady", two of which are priceless portraits of Liza.

This auction has an "extended bidding" feature.  If anyone bids on an item in the final six minutes of the auction, it is extended by 10 minutes.

gtposters has opted in for that auction and upped his bid $9.  He's desperate!

I've WON, I've WON, I've Won the cards from "The Gang's All Here", and at less than half my bid price.

Poor gtposters....he's going to have to bid about $50 per card to win the bid from me on "Words and Music"...and I'll be sitting here -- jest like a spider -- "extended bidding" him by another $100.

Fortunately, "Lucky Lady" fell into my hands at $5...or $1 per card.  There are some movies I just love that everyone else seems to hate.  And these are high quality photos, too!

Well, I may not be able to stay up long enough to find out if this "burning" thing works....

The process has been going for 30 minutes and is only 21% complete.  Way too slow for my patience level.

But if it works, DR George will be getting an extra special bonus!  :D

You'll be happy to know -- and very glad that this is the final post on it -- that gtposters wussed out at $99...and never came near my top bid.  Of course, if he'd left well enough alone, I'd have paid much less....but that's what these auction thingies are all about.

If anyone is interested, the auction is conducted by emovieposters.com at its own site.  They used to have items on eBay but have cut off from eBay entirely.  They have auctions twice a week -- posters, lobby cards, stills and other film-advertising-related ephemera pops up now and again.  Check it out and see what's what!
