The total number of posts for this thread is gigantic - maybe we need to archive?

Here is the story of the concert piece "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas."

Composer Eric Whitacre was largely untrained, but discovered that he had quite a compositional talent, and was accepted into Juilliard's program.  He was writing all kinds of wonderful choral pieces, but his professors said, "Enough of that!"  Give us something instrumental.  He didn't cotton to that kind of authority, so decided to "show them" by writing "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas," intending it to be a parody score for a fictitious BAD Japanese horror film.  So first he wrote a synopsis of this fictitious film, and then he "scored" it.

It has gone on to become one of his most successful compositions!   :)

I'll check with Mr. Bakalor about archiving, but it really shouldn't be a problem.

I have re-listened to the OBC of The Catered Affair.  I really like it.

I think the producers could have selected a more appealing "clip" to highlight on the Tonys.  I also think that Ms. Prince's problem was that she couldn't hear the accompaniment properly.

Cool!  Do you know the show or is this the first time that you've heard it?

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And, alas, it is not a day of rest for me. In fact, I leave for rehearsal at 8:30, and then we go until 6:00 today.

*One "nice" thing about today's rehearsal - We're supposed to have a full cast.  That is if everyone's planes made it in last night.  Apparently, there were delays.

Good morning all!

I think I'll go out and cut some grass before it gets too hot.

That is all.

DRLAURA - Yes both episodes of COPS were reruns last night, not very interesting either, the second time around.  Are you going to get a NEW television set?

Good morning, all! I have to finish today the gi-normous "Night and Day" (I always preferred Anna Russell's version Nacht und Tag) for Miss Kim Criswell so that I can turn over a copy of the full score tomorrow to her conductor before I begin copying the parts. My desdline is July 3, but thank God the conductor Mr Kevin Farrell, who conducted the Hayley Mills tour of Le Roi et Moi, lives only a block away.

That's my only news. For now.

For the record, DR MBarnum, I've never called you Lulu or Nancy, and I always defend you: when folk say to me you're not fit for pigs, I say, yes you are!

I would swear that every episode of COPS I watch is a rerun.

I need more coffee!

Good morning!

Looks like a bright, sunny, warm day here. High 90 or near. Sunday is usually a heavy chore day, and so it will be. I won't be outside much at all today.

I'll be starting my new review set today: CANNON, Season 1, Volume 1. I only watched a few of the shows during its lengthy run, so I'm sure most of these will be brand new for me. It's a Quinn Martin Production, so that at least suggests a certain level of quality, badly missing in the WALKER TEXAS RANGER set I last reviewed.
