I'm resting now on this day of rest, although I do have one errand to do in about an hour.

I really cannot stomach how they report news anymore - on TV, the Internet, anywhere.  The latest Internet headline glaring at me is TEEN KILLED BY ROLLERCOASTER - at Six Flags Georgia.  Now wouldn't your first assumption be that the rollercoaster malfunctioned and a tragic accident happened?  Certainly that was mine.  But, no, this teen scaled TWO not one, TWO six foot fences that were clearly marked that clearly said OFF LIMITS and DANGEROUS to VISITORS, then proceeded to enter a RESTRICTED AREA, at which point he was struck by the rollercoaster.  Not exactly the fault of anyone but the teen, but first they've got to get you to read the story, I guess.

And then, of course, they go into two other stories from the past where there were accidents that had nothing to do with this one.

DR ELMORE I saw Miss Hayley Mills in the tour, and the just idea of seeing her made everything else okay...even though there were some unusual things in that show.....and now I have to try to remember who played The King....because he was pretty good, too.

I believe it was my friend Kevin Gray, but it's been several years now since I've seen Kevin.  I think he's in LA now.

Last time I saw him was at one of Ron Raines' Christmas day gatherings.

I'm sluggish today...oh! yes! I am sluggish!

I was slug-a-bed until 10 a.m.

I intended to get my paper, brew a cup of coffee and settle in but I had a phone call from my maternal aunt who is all kinds of giddy because she's got her very first cell phone.  So she yakked with me a while and I took the opportunity to start up my computer.

After the call, I checked e-mails, and then visited a couple of sites.  Been tilting at windmills ever since.  It's fun.  It relieves stress.  And it allows me to face the coming week with renewed vigor.

Now I am hungry.  I am also wanting that cup of coffee.

Everyone have a great day!

They just following in the centuries' old tradition of Yellow Journalism" started by Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst.

Your very own premier print media, the LA Times, ran with

I should have watched some of the piles of unwatched DVDs currently taking up space in my living room.  Instead, however, I watched HBO's HD presentation of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".  I then turned to MOJO and watched "Advise and Consent" in HD.  What a terrific film that one is.

My washing machine is spinning merrily away.  A load of whites are in the final cycle.

Next will be darks, including all last week's socks!

The coming week will be a short one for me.  I'm working Monday through Wednesday.  Then I'm treating myself to a five-day 4th of July weekend, during which I "might" get to meet DR singdaw for lunch.

For the record, DR MBarnum, I've never called you Lulu or Nancy, and I always defend you: when folk say to me you're not fit for pigs, I say, yes you are!

LOL!  For what it's worth, Mike, he's said nice things about you to me.

On tv for me tonight:

Not much.

The Hills, S3, E23.

How Do I solve a problem like maria.

Password.

re: The Hills. I had never gotten MTV. So never came in contact with the show. But ever since CTV (here in canada) started showing it, i've grown attached. And i ended up watching seasons 1 and 2 online (mtv website).

I can't really figure out how much of it is real. Before i started watching i had read that it was scripted reality (whatever that is). But Heidi and spencer (from the show) were on The View this week. And they said it was real. And that they just tell the cameras their schedules and that is how they know where to show up.

To me it seems like even if that is true, that some of the characters do things to cause conflict on purpose!

I'm curious, i've never seen the original show that this came from Laguana beach. Is it similar? All i know is lauren conrad (from the hills) was on it also.

They opened the first Sephora (cosmetics store) here.

Can i just say I LOVE THIS STORE!

Okay everything is overpriced. But every single item has a sampler. And they only sell the highest end products.

I wish they would just empty the store for me and let me spend the night alone in there!

Hi, Sing! Hi, Mike!

I have not fully explored Matt's abilities.

Well, I am sure that Chopsticks would be willing to do that for you.

Today continues with burning and clearing stuff off the DVR.

In another room, at the same time, I shall be working on a long overdue project for DR elmore3003.

Very warm here today, and I don't see any hint of rain which they said had a 40% chance of happening.; maybe much later.

Yesterday it did cloud up, but if there was any rain, it missed my neighborhood.

As they often do with widescreen movies shot in Super 35, HBO reformats even the HD presentations to 1.78:1 which I just hate. (I mention this since DR Ron Pulliam mentioned watching HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX on HBO-HD.) Of course, I watch the movies in HD there first that I'm curious about and then if I like them, I'll investigate DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD availability. The discs usually present the OAR of the films rather than reformatted versions.

I had a full afternoon of viewing while I did my laundry.

I started with Thursday night's MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST. The rebroadcast was glich-free so I was able to watch and enjoy the show. Lance Bass is a cutie and was fun with Kathy. I enjoyed all of her antics on the flight to Australia.

Next, I watched the GLAAD Awards. Kathy was wonderful on that show, too, and I also enjoyed seeing some other favorites accepting or presenting awards. Glad I recorded it, though, so I could speed through sections that weren't holding my attention.
