BK - That's great that the Starfighter CD is still selling every now and then.  Thanks for letting me know.

Well, I believe I'm going to get a head start on Wussburgering for the evening.  Today was a long day, and tomorrow most definitely be a long day.  There's some reading I want to get done, so I believe I shall take care of that now before heading to bed.

Goodnight.

Sunday morning greetings!  Richard is off to church in Cincinnati and I'm about to partake of my second "guilty pleasure" movie of the weekend on Lifetime.  Yesterday I watched The Pilot's Wife, based on the novel by Anita Shreve, and in about 10 minutes I'm going to watch Open House, which I hope is based on the novel by Elizabeth Berg.  They both star my Univ. of Michigan classmate Christine Lahti.

I love Christine Lahti! She dated a songwriter friend of mine & they loved to NY together and worked menial jobs while waiting for their big break. They didn't end up together but he was always very happy with any success she had and they've stayed friends. She's apparently a very nice person! (So's he...)

I didn't know Christine Lahti personally at Michigan, but saw her in a lot of student productions during our undergraduate years.  She and Cathy Guisewite (of comic strip Cathy fame) are the most famous members of my class.

I spent the day cleaning house after cutting the grass and gardening. This evening, my mom and her DP came over and I took them out to dinner to celebrate her birthday (which is actually tomorrow.) A well-known Atlanta chef has a very nice restaurant at the top of our street. She had been to his old restaurant about 30 years ago, so she enjoyed having some gourmet fare. The chef knows me, so he came over and met my mom and brought us a special little appetizer he prepared.

We told them we hadn't planned on dessert, because I already had a cake and coffee waiting at home, but they brought out little treats anyway, on a plate wiht a birthday greeting drizzled in chocolate over bite-sized chocolate ganache and a tiny creme brulee and fresh berries. Yum!

Then we loaded her present into the car (big tomato ladders) and now she's on her way home.

I've been in a bit of a funk today, but hanging out here has helped.  So did a dish of Edy's caramel swirl slow-churned ice cream.  Maybe some sleep is called for, too.

DH Greg arrived home from Dukefest, tired and sunburned. One of the interviews he did was conducted on the race track at 100 miles an hour, with one of the stunt crew!

Tom Wopat was there today to sign autographs, and they jumped a General Lee car 197 feet! They wrecked several which were then auctioned off. And John Schnieder auctioned off his own personal motorcycle. Duke fans from around the world were there. Who knew it had wordwide popularity?

"They've cut the fuel expenses way down compared to what they used to could have done"   A quote from a boat dealer on the news tonight.  Good grief.

Are you watching the Atlanta news?  :)

scottsimms felt the need to tell the world how much he didn't like Wall-E, which is, as of this moment, the best-reviewed film of the year.  He's so pedantic about it, especially when anyone comes on and challenges his peurile ramblings.  This guy's anonymous days are numbered, baby.

I watched a bit of THE PILOT'S WIFE, but missed a key point: who was responsibe for the plane crash and was the pilot husband in on it, or an innocent dupe?

Enjoyed all of the things I watched this evening.

I began with FIVE episodes of CANNON. It never dawned on me that Frank Cannon was ever a man of action, but darned if he doesn't karate chop the bad guys when he gets in a bad situation.

I got my shipping notice from Amazon that my copy of THE CLOSER has shipped! By the time it gets here (probably Wednesday), I should have finished with the MURDER SHE WROTEs and can start on this between review discs I'll be covering.

Anyway, back to CANNON. Lots of guest stars. I love seeing young actors early in their careers, often in small roles. Vincent Van Patten played a young kid in one episode, and in another Mark Hamill gets billed as "farm boy."

Other guest stars have ranged from William Windom to Joan Van Ark and Clu Gulager. Even Diane Varsi showed up in an episode.

I'll be starting disc 3 (of 4) tomorrow with six remaining episodes. If I REALLY persevere, I can finish the set tomorrow.

I watched the last 20 minutes of Robert Altman's STREAMERS off one of the Starz channels (or maybe Encore). Always a forceful movie of the stage play with some wonderful acting. I have it on laserdisc, but I haven't watched it in awhile, so it was nice to see the last part again. One of these days I'll have to pull it out and run the whole thing.

I concluded my evening by watching off the DVR tonight's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. I got the murderer right for a change! It was nice sliding through those commercials, too.

I just wish my cable company had USA-HD. I keep requesting it, but so far, nothing.

OK, I was up VERY late last night, so I'm heading down now to try to recapture at least one of the hours I lost last night.

Good night!

Well, there is a judge who isn't going to be happy in the morning and  a client who isn't going to be happy in the afternoon, but I can only do what I can do.  If I'm feeling a little better I can write tomorrow.
