Not that the other ankle is particularly anything to write home about, since bad ankle implies that the other ankle is a good ankle

It only suggests the other ankle never gets caught.

Possible SPOILER re: "Design Star"

Poor Michael, the designer the judges ejected in this competiton, had what they called "the advantage" of picking his own country to be inspired by.  Two of the others had Mexico, two had Thailand and two had Italy.  Michael chose Spain.  What impressed him about Spain, apparently, was the modern clubs he had been in with glossy floors and ultra-modern furnishings.  His room came together quickly and it looked fairly good, if not inspired.  Contrasted with a couple of others -- chiefly, Tracee's hideous cartoon of a room and Matt's atrocious Tibetan temple (one would never know unless he told you) -- Michael's was nicely done.  Michael went first and the judges crucified him.  Vern Yip declared, "I look more Spanish than that room does."  So, what we were hearing here is that the judges expected to see "old" Spanish influences rather than something that one might see in clubs today.  That's a rather literal interpretation I think, but it's their show.  Another favorite of mine, Mikey V., did what he called a Thai zen garden.  It looked like a Japanese restaurant to me, but the judges praised him.  The other rooms were okay, but nobody blew the judges or the audience away.

The bottom three were Michael, Tracee and Matt.  For two weeks, Tracee has been the weakest link in the competition, working with a partner, and this week she showed no solo talent at all, IMO, in doing an Italianate room, choosing a painted chandelier and a technique that might fit better in the theater of the absurd to construct a gondola bed.

Michael was told that he had the upper hand this week and that he blew it.  Vern Yip told him that this week he didn't have anybody else to hide behind and his weaknesses showed through.  Michael was devastated.  "I" was devastated.  Michael had been the strongest link in the past two teams he was part of, and made the toughest and best decisions that yielded high scores from the judges.  What they haven't shown us must have something to do with Vern's venal condemnation.  Tracee, on the other hand, is a wreck-in-progress.  Her M.O. is to tear down everyone else's ideas and then to introduce crap.  She has been at the bottom every week.  When the judges criticize her work she dissolves into tears.  When her fellow competitors tell her they don't like her manner of work, she tells them she's ashamed to be associated with them, then dissolves into tears.  And still she walks through the green room door much to all the other contestants' dismay.  The judges seem to be evaluating her on something "other than" what she's actually doing.  It's not much fun, at this point, to see her continue to survive while better designers -- last week's D. Paul and this week's Michael -- are sent home.   I'm giving the show one more week.  If I think a fix is definitley on, I'll stop watching it.

I think they are keeping Tracee for the Drama.  Michael really hasn't done much that was very good. He also engaged in a lot of peronal attacks.  My guess is she will be one of the next to go.  They did say that you should be able to look at the room and see your country.  His could have been a club anywhere.

Did anyone watch the new game show WIPEOUT last week? It was pretty darn amusing...it is a copy of the Japanese game show TAKESHI'S CASTLE, which played in America in a re-dubbed version titled MOST EXTREME ELIMINATION CHALLENGE.

There is also a reality competition program that began last week titled I SURVIVED A JAPANESE GAME SHOW. I will be keeping up with that one as well, as I love seeing all the wonderful shots of Tokyo, and it is fun to see the assorted stunts and games that the players must go through.

Just some enjoyable, simple minded summer viewing.

Remember last year's July 2, 2007, break in at the PHI office? A drop of blood has provided a DNA match to a suspect, and i just got a call from the DA's office about appearing beofre the grand jury in late July. Now, if I could only remember what was going on last year when I discovered the breakin.

Oh, they'll remind you  ;)

I got a couple more box sets in the mail today from Paramount: RENO 911!'s latest season and some Comedy Central box on parodies of classic kid's TV shows. Thankfully, they don't come out until midway to later in the month of July so there is plenty of time to get to them.

Now I'm going to head down to get back to Frank Cannon's last 3 1/2 cases in this set.

Hmmm. Might have time for something else tonight to watch other than the BONES rerun, too!

List is missing George Stark and George Sidney - let's make sure they're in the next update.
Hey, c'mon here, like I'm supposed to do NOTHING BUT UPDATE THE LIST ON MY ONLY DAY OFF THIS WEEK WHEN IT'S THE FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND COMING UP AND I'M GOING TO BE STRESSING OUT IF I DON'T GET SOME GOOD REST AND RELAXATION GOING???

Sheesh.

The names added to the list that you commented about were added AFTER I was working on the update.  They will be on the next list.

Tomorrow I don't get off work until 9:30 pm, and then I'm back at work at 7:30 in the morning, in between which I've got to make sure der Brucer gets fed and that I get enough sleep for the next day, along with getting myself up and showered and fully awake in time to be at the job for another training session with the area Billing Manager.

Friday, the Fourth, I finish my shift at 10:00 pm, and then I'm back at the store at 7:30 again.  Yep, I get to deal with the Fourth of July Drunks.  I am SO looking forward to that.  And once again I'll have a hungry mouth to feed when I get home, not just mine.

(Paragraph deleted.  Let's just say it wasn't nice.)

I am so not looking forward to this week.   :P
