Next, here are the actors vying for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series:

Naveen Andrews, Lost
Bruce Dern, Big Love
Christian Clemenson, Boston Legal
Ted Danson, Damages
Michael Emerson, Lost
Zeljko Ivanek, Damages
T.R. Knight, Grey's Anatomy
William Shatner, Boston Legal
John Slattery, Mad Men
Blair Underwood, In Treatment
Jake Weber, Medium

Isn't it THRILLING to see Jake Weber's name there!

BIG SURPRISE: last year's winner Terry O'Quinn for LOST is NOT in the list! That means that neither of last years Best Supporting Drama winners will be up this year (Katherine Heigl voluntarily took her name out of contention saying she didn't feel she had storylines this year worthy of being nominated.)

Very disappointed that my guys from THE CLOSER didn't make it. UNFAIR!

And finally, here are the semifinalists for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series:

Jane Alexander, Tell Me You Love Me
Candice Bergen, Boston Legal
Rose Byrne, Damages
Jill Clayburgh, Dirty Sexy Money
Sharon Gless, Burn Notice
Rachel Griffiths, Brothers & Sisters
Christina Hendricks, Mad Men
S. Epatha Merkerson, Law & Order
Sandra Oh, Grey's Anatomy
Dianne Wiest, In Treatment
Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy

Some of these people seem to be here by reputation rather than for giving galvanizing performances this season. I'm thinking especially of Gless and Clayburgh, both of whom are fine but neither of whom are worthy of Emmy nominations for their work this year.

This is a way to start July?  We need a frenzy or three and not all this damnably damnable errant and truant behavior.

Has anyone linked Tom Nondorf's Leading Men column for July?  If not, here it is.  If so, here it is again.

Now, I eat a pineapple, mango, and papiya mix for dinner because the dog is not very excited by fruit.

Wouldn't work around here! The dogs adore fresh fruit (and veggies) - the Dalmatian even searches through the cupboards looking for bags of apples. Last week he swiped 6 freash cucumbers from the farmer's market for a snack.

Sorry, DR Edi. I posted the ones I found out. No other lists have surfaced yet. Maybe later.

The super and his wife have been on vacation, and I just got a nasty visit frm their son to give me hell about recycling. I carried an Amazon.com box down to the basement earlier and threw it onto the floor near the trash bins, which I've done for the past year or longer, for two reasons: if I put it into hte bin for paper, it takes up a lot of room for someone else who might be tossing out a lot of magazines and papers and, secondly, I've done this for a long time with never a complaint. Now, I'm not saying I was in the right, and perhaps if the super or his wife had made a comment in the past, I would not have continued to do this.

So, I called my agent to complain, but I don't like getting myself into a feud with the super and his family!

Then, on to some fun stuff for this evening.

The health people are still confounded by the outbreak of salmonella (or however you spell it) poisoning and are now admitting they never really knew if it was totatoes and that they now feel it wasn't.  BRILLIANT!  I wonder how much money they cost stores all over the country?  We all know how the news media reported it - there was no "maybe it's tomatoes" - the word "maybe" never made an appearance.

The funny thing is that you'd think lots of cops would be out trying to catch people, but I have yet to see a police car this day.

You mean they're driving without using their hands??  That's amazing!

Some obviously woefully underread patron of DVDTalk just emailed me that my review of Company was among the most intelligent pieces he's ever read.  Does BK's close personal friend SS ever use the pen-name Russell?  ;)

BTW, I forgot to mention that yesterday Dear Dog Blanche managed to find a discarded chicken bone on the ground at the park that Betsy takes her to, and chomped it down before Betsy could get it away from her.  Several x-rays and drugs that made Blanche vomit upon the ground later, she seems to be doing fine, though my wallet isn't.  :)

JUST NOT SO!

From the very onset (June12 thread) I disussed, and posted clips, of the lack of certainty of the source - you even taunted me with 'What do you mean, "believe", aren't they sure?"  All detailed print media and cable news stories have noted that the CDC was still lacking definite proof of the source of contamination and that tomatoes were just the "likely" suspect. If you think the media never reported the "maybe" element, it must be because you just read headlines or listen to news-show teasers.

I've seen a driver or two with cell phone to ear while driving.

No police in sight, though.

I'm off to pack and then to bed, as I depart for JFK tomorrow morning at 4:30 AM.  And I have much to do before then.

I won't have access to a computer until probably tomorrow night, so I shall miss you all tomorrow.  And I shall probably be posting far less over the next few days.  [I hear the sighs of relief already!]  Cheers, Dear Readers!  California here I come!  :D

The same folks who run red lights and don't stop for STOP signs are likely to be the ones ALSO getting away with using a hand to talk on a cell phone while driving.   To them, it's just another law that doesn't get/won't be enforced.\\\\
