Good morning, all! Oy! Such a morning i've had. The computer's power strip died and so I had to go out and buy a new one. I've received more band parts to be proofed from the copyist and now I'm waiting for him to call me for the corrections.
A friend on the Cast Recording List sent me two CDs of a Chicago Light Opera works production of the Houston Grand Opera version of BABES IN TOYLAND for which I did the musical adaptation. I haven't heard this since around 1991 so it's fun to hear. That production, which the HGO never mentions in its publicity, was intended to be an opera house version of the show, sort of an equivalent to the balletNUTCRACKER, but the rehearsals were a battlefield of competing divas, undermining, backstabbing, and throat cutting, one of my most unpleasant work experiences. Chicago Light Opera Works did the show around 1993 and I got a nice royalty check. I don't think it's been performed since.
