Back from several banking stops (thank goodness for drive-up windows!) and seeing Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which I enjoyed immensely.
As The Vixter can tell you, Kit is my favorite American Girl, because she lives in Cincinnati (during the Great Depression). The movie had me from the moment Kit's streetcar stop was announced as "Clifton & Ludlow, Clifton & Ludlow." That's the corner near the University of Cincinnati where we go for Skyline Chili and Graeter's Ice Cream. Casting is excellent - I especially liked Jane Krakowski, Stanley Tucci, Wallace Shawn, and Glenne Headly (who resembled Blythe Danner somewhat).
The kids in the audience were totally drawn into the story and didn't need a lot of special effects or CGI to entertain them.
Why was I the only one who laughed when Stanley Tucci, as the magician, said, "I've never levitated a mobile librarian before."?
