1. Turn of the tv and go outside.
2. Don't feed them at McDonalds.
3. Never give in to a tantrum.

We're in pretty good shape here with that:

1) No TV in the house (of course, the older one can watch Barney the purple abomination at his grandparents', but that's another story)
2) Until McDonald's gets kosher certification, I won't be worrying too much. Pizza is about as junky as the junk meals get around us
3) Um... well, er, two out of three ain't too bad, right?

4. Make it your policy (with your wife) that you never buy toys when you are out shopping with the children. Toys are only purchased when the children are along if they are a gift for another child. It really cuts down on the tantrums when they know you WILL NOT buy toys for them when they are along.

My son made me promise the other day that if he ever has kids I am never to take them to McDonalds. Ever.

I made him promise me that if he ever has kids that they are never to be left in the car unattended. Ever.

Question of the day to everyone:  Do you have any child-raising tips for Elan?

(There, that makes it official)

Remember this truth: (If you) Spare the Rod (you'll ) Spoil the Child!

Kids need discipline.

The rest of the world will LOVE YOU for it, and your kids will likely respect you and cherish you for it, especially when they encounter all the spoiled brats running around out there.

BK has a thread going at FilmScoreMonthly Messageboard about his upcoming "mystery" release.

If JRand's excellent guess was correct about what the title is, then the guesses at FSM are highly amusing and kind of strange, IMO.

I've seen folks suddenly verbally drooling over stuff I never read anyone "wanting" before.

And if Jrand is correct, no one, last I looked, has even named the composer of the upcoming score in all the wild guesses that have been flying.

Of course, I'm capable of getting back by posting cute photos online but I'd never do that, now, would I?

Okay, maybe I would...

Call off the DNA test... he's my kid, alright!

And is that where he picked up the "reading-on-the-throne" idea?  ;D

I wonder if it will start a trend that Hainsie/Kimlets will follow.  Will we soon see photos of others here on the pot?

re: last night's BIG BROTHER show

What did you guys think of the veto comp?

I actually liked it and thought it was original. Even if it did sort of backfire. :)

Loved it!  I thought I had remembered incorrectly about who won it, but it was great to see how it all turned out.  I think the interruptions with the worms and the composted materials threw some of them way off in their "mental" ticking-off of time.

Memphis seemed to have the best plan, but he must have been counting too slowly.

And did you notice:  Just as in the HOH competition, Keesha won not by being right when it counted, but by everyone else being wrong.  She beat Keesha when Keesha answered incorrectly in HOH, and she won the veto handily by being the only one to get out before time was up.  The look of concentration on Jessie's and Memphis' faces was priceless.  They both wanted to win, but neither is a good judge of how much time goes by.  If either of them had gotten out when the compost was added, they'd have won.

We went out to dinner last night so we could say we ate out in 3 major metropolitan cities in the USA in 24 hours! *lol*

(1) Il Palazzo (Little Italy) New York
(2) Restaurant in San Francisco airport, can't remember name but great Fish & Chips and it came with wonderful Fisherman's Wharf sourdough bread!
(3) Mandarin Palace, Beaverton, Oregon (my fave chinese place)

I say we all give Elan our child-raising tips.

1. Read with them as well as to them - I think it's especially important for boys to see male role models reading.

2.  Keep them on a tether (figuratively-speaking) - and let it out to its fullest length

3.  Choose your battles
