THEN, this morning, I looked online and had an E-mail from a concert venue and found Dolly Parton is going to be in town on August 7th so I checked really quick on seats and prices and found 2 seats in the 3rd row from the VERY front for a decent price.  I grabbed them quick...I ADORE Dolly!

Then we have been talking about see Shrek in Seattle when it starts and found tickets to that as well for a pretty decent price, so we grabbed those too!  We're going mad!  We've got Broadway and music in our souls now and can't get enough!  We found a matinee on a Saturday for Shrek so not sure but may drive back home after the show or might stay overnight.  Still deciding!

Most favorite chocolate ice cream was Swenson's German Chocolate Cake. Are there any Swenson's left?

Sutton Place Gourmet made their own ice cream for a while ten or fifteen years ago and they had a chocolate that was to die for. But they're long gone.

... tell the little ones you are going to give them away to the gypsies.

Careful, some would cheer the adventure!

It's HOT in Culver City?  Wow!  It's so cool up here in Oakland!  ;)

These days I reside in northern Virginia. I grew up in Culver City.

Ah, Sutton Place Gourmet....  Balducci's is good, but they're not the same as SPG - even though they were supposed to be the same after SPG got bought out.

I have never had a bad experience flying. But I still don't like it.

On my first flight overseas an engine caught fire as we were about to fly over the Atlantic. To me, a "good" flight is any flight that is relatively uneventful; that's as good as it gets for me.

I was on a plane that had a "decompression incident" and ever since I have not been a very calm flyer.

And all of this advice for DR JMK reminds me of those signs you see in restaurants and other places...

...And then there was the recent flight that one of the Disney execs had taken from Tokyo to Sydney... Where they "lost" a chunk of the plane's body the size of a mini-van during the flight... But they still landed in Sydney on time!

I KNEW Jose would know Sutton Place Gourmet. Do you remember when they made their own ice cream, Jose?

Oh-ho!  Is that perhaps "a" reason daughter-in-law might not be happy all the time.

No - my daughter started off with "if you behave in the store I will buy you a treat". I, on the other hand, refuse to offer bribes. I "expext" the boys to behave when shopping and they usually end up with a treat (of course they also think of fresh fruit as a treat). With her, the boys regularly have tantrum meltdowns in stores, I rarely, if ever have the problem (they learned early on that they just won't work!). It is easier to get the kids to behave if you engage them in the shopping experience rather than telling them to shut up and walk slowly. The biggest problem I have is taking them into Borders for books and having to say "no" a thousand times to all the junk toys they put out with the books!

That's what I mean, DerBrucer. If they know you don't buy toys, they won't throw the tantrums. And never give in to tantrums and they will learn they don't work.

At least, they learn with whom they do and don't work.

And I firmly believe that the Happy Meal is one of the worst inventions EVER.

All those junk toys they only play with when you are trying to get them to eat. Then when you get them home, they won't play with them, except to scatter them around the house -- but woe to mom if she tries to throw them away.

Another worst invention is the playground in a restaurant.

I am happy to say my kids have only ever set foot in a McDonald's once or twice in their lives, and those times only for pancake breakfasts.  They hate fast food, with the exception of KFC.

Sadly, some parents feed their children McDonalds on a daily basis. The Goldstein girls and my Adventure buddies come to mind.

Looks like this little NY thing in December might just happen.  More I cannot say at this time, but if I get a deal memo (I would be donating my services but I'd be flown in and put up), and if I see the guy has booked the theater and everything seems kosher, then I'll let you all know what it is.

Another worst invention is the playground in a restaurant.

Gee, Happy Meals and the playground is why we like taking the lads to McDonald's. They get to pick the meal of their choice, and you get fast service (and the kids usually opt for a milkshake over a soda). The toys usually wait 'till after they eat and the playground is a great way of letting them burn off energy while the old folks sit a spell. More often than not the toys get left in the car. I always budget the extra playground time into the shopping trips, so it work's out fine.
