And, now... Presenting this month's Leading Men Column:

THE LEADING MEN: Keeling, Bell and Parlato

" he had been working on playing Charles Darnay in rehearsals for the forthcoming A Tale of Two Cities musical..."

How do you work on playing Charles Darnay in rehearsals?  Was he cast in the role?  Was he understudying the role?  Was he thinking of auditioning for the role?  I don't understand the phrase, I guess.

I sent out eBlasts about our upcoming LACCTAA events and people are already responding, making their reservations.

Would you prefer "employed at" rather than "working on"?

I guess I don't understand why, if this guy was already cast in TALE OF TWO CITIES, he would leave that show to play Danny in GREASE.  I mean, TALE OF TWO CITIES could be the next RAGTIME, or it could be the next CIVIL WAR.

I have just never heard the term used before; but hey, I'm just a hick from Tacoma, so what do I know?

This will come as a shock to you, but I actually know who Meredith Willson is! Yes indeedy, he is a panelist on my favorite vintage game show, THE NAME'S THE SAME, which I record nightly off the Game Show Network (and which often has famous Broadway figures on as guests).

But do you know Willson's Broadway claim to fame?

TCB - I'd imagine if someone REALLY needed assurance of a continuous paycheck, and hypothetically had the choice between the lead in an established hit vs. a role in a new show which might run for years or not, they would think in terms of the security.  Of course, I don't know his financial situation, but sometimes finances can take precedence over career moves.

Curtis Loew -- the character in Lynyrd Skynyrd's song "The Ballad of Curtis Loew"

...Sweet Home Alabama,
Where the skies are so blue ... (now, I will be singing that song the rest of the night)

Has anyone heard any of the score from TWO CITIES yet?

Sorry, whenever I think of Lynyrd Skynyrd "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird" (and "Gimme Three Steps") pop into my head and I start singing ...

Cat Lady
(what they call that woman -- I think she's from New York -- she's had so much plastic surgery that she looks like a cat .. oh, what's her name? -- but they refer to her in the press as Cat Lady ...)

Cillaliz, are you going to continue immigration law? I know you enjoy criminal defense (and are very good at it).

Never mind -- it was Jocelyn Wildenstein, but they call her "The Lion Queen" or "Cat Woman" -- I guess I'm the one who refers to her as Cat Lady, so I guess that doesn't count ...

I will not post a photo, way too scary.  I hope no one else does, however, if you want to see the Cat Lady.

Yes, we got a good shower last night -- and a little tiny bit this afternoon (but again the bigger storms were east of us -- we have a creek that runs through our subdivision and until it starts running, I know we haven't had enough rain -- it has not been flowing any this summer, so...). Any down your way, DRLaura?

As promised, here's some of the news coverage

Cilla, is still doesn't sound like the reporter understood the difference between the crimes he was charged with versus what he was convicted on.

LOL. I love the interview. This is my favorite line:

"It is impossible to hold a medical degree from the University of Papaya as Papaya is not a country, you should never have to walk through a transmission shop to get to the clinic and avoid places that require a secret knock."

With that plastic surgery, maybe she shouldn't have opened the oven door.
