Actually, it's the West Coast that usually has "first crack" at the obvious names. bk puts the initials out at midnight (3 a.m. East Coast time), so by the time *I* log on, the West Coasters have had hours to come up with names.

I'm old.  I go to bed around 11.

Good thing you didn't go to the ER - poor Richard would be being investigated for spousal abuse.

der Brucer

Actually, I have a story about that.

Several years ago I had my last wisdom tooth extracted (yes, at age 52!) and the whole left side of my face was bruised.  The pain meds made me so sick that we did go to the ER and I made sure that I had all the paperwork from the oral surgeon to prove that he had caused the bruising and not dear DH Richard.

Oh, by the way, DR Edisaurus - I love Edward Gorey, but I'd never heard of that particular book!    I love The Pornographic Sofa and The Gashlycrumb Tinies.     :)

That must create some interesting juxtapositions!

Marguerite - OLC

Legrand's melodies sound beautiful but kind of hard to sing.

DR DumbStruck - yes Marguerite is very melodic. I first listened to the score as "background" to get the "feel".  Second listening was with the Synopsis (Downloaded).  I've not yet followed the booklet's lyrics.  I'm looking forward to seeing ths show in 6 weeks time.

But the human vocie is an intrument - that's why we have Opera.

I looked at this three times before I realized you hadn't written "Oprah" instead of Opera.  :D

Am I the only person who thinks that 30,000 fireworks in a city with really really bad pollution is a bad idea?

Back from the mail place - got a couple of packages today, including one of the two boxes of books - unfortunately not the hardcover, but the softcover (I get free softcovers) - which means hardcovers on Monday, which means I'll get them out late that afternoon or first thing Tuesday morning - along with the special bonus gift.

Excellent point, DR Laura.

When I created my book display last week about the Olympics, with the bamboo plant/flag topper, one of my co-workers suggested I figure out a way to suspend a smog cloud over the whole thing.

Do we have to choose?   Can't we have both?        :'(

Former NC senator John Edwards admitted publicly Friday to an extramarital affair, but said he did not father a child out of wedlock.

Nowadays, does that end a future Presidential run, or not?

Oh, yeah, who that be calling me a lightweight?!  Hmmmm?! Bring it on, bring it on.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
That would be me
Taking ol' Ronnie P
Down to Snarkytown!

(As she does the Ali Shuffle)

Floating like a leaf on a shivering aspen,
There goes Miss Karen
Talkin' her talk, waitin' for me
to TAKE her to Snarkytown!

It is ON!

Hey  :D

Today is 8/8/08!!

And it's also Post #8!!!!!     :D   :D

It takes so little to make me happy.
Fortunately, der Brucer is NOT 88.  That would have been overkill.
