Off-the-cuff, it seems like there's a problem with the domain name registry... the "unseemly button" links using the full domain IP address (208.50.7.254), which currently does not seem to work, although haineshisway.com does.

Did you try to go to the notes via the second page?  If so, that may be the problem.

Yes, I did try from the 2nd page.

Good Evening!

DR elmore - I saw that article about Nick Spangler and his sister being contestants on "The Amazing Race" earlier too.  I have to say, he looks hot(ter) in that promo pic from the show.  ;)

Next, I watched Sunday's MAD MEN while I ate lunch. Wonderful episode, really worked up to a highly dramatic conclusion for both Don and his wife and for Peggy.

I will say again that the show is SO much more enjoyable to watch, so much richer in all that period decor and design in high definition.

I haven't watched any episode after the first episode of this season.  I need to ketch up and I, like you, am so glad that it's available in On Demand in hi-def! :D

I did.  And I tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to give it a Goyim-esque spin in one of my earlier posts.  ;)

As far as I can tell, everything works now.  I've been to the radio page, the stuff page, the books page, the interviews page - it's all fine.

My first adult book?

That's easy: Mickey Spillaine's I, THE JURY.

When was it published?  The very early 1950s?

Whenever it was, that's when I read it. I guess I was around 12 or 13.

There was 1 sentence in that book that I'll never forget:

"She hooked her thumbs into her panties and pulled them down."

Wow!  For a 12-year-old back in the early 1950s, that was HOT!

Perhaps the "button" problem has existed for longer in the NW. That old fisherman with the cats doesn't post any more.

I fear some members of our HHW community are becoming senile.

My first adult book would have been Psycho in 1960 when I was twelve.  I may have read a couple of others in paperback prior to that (I was very partial to any paperback that was a movie tie-in), but Psycho was a real shocker for a twelve-year-old.

I don't know about that!  I can't get anything on Juliana's Journal to come up that is newer that 2004.

It has taken me all day to successfully log on to this here site.

TOD:

Other than "Little Me" over and over again since i was about 6, in 7th and 8th grade, I read "Chocolates for Breakfast,"  "Catcher in the Rye" (for school which Ihad to get special permission for) and "A Gay and Melancholy Sound."  In high school, I read everything I wanted.

Oh, and when I was about 12, I read "1984" and "Days of Wine and Roses" because they were on the bookshelf-- so why not?

T.O.D.

When I was growing up, I hated to read anything.  Having to do book reports was agony for me.  The only exception were books about the Titanic.  I read everything I could get my hands on regarding the ship.

The first "Adult" book I ever read was FANNY HILL.  OMG!  :o

I don't remember what was the first adult book I read.  I know I started to read "The Hobbit" and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy when I was in middle school, but I didn't finish all of the books.  Are those considered "adult" (and not "adult...nudge, nudge, wink, wink" ;)) books?

I am glad you will be watching THE AMAZING RACE DR Elmore, it is such a fun show!

I agree. Now whenever I'm traveling and run into delays I think "What would they do on the Amazing Race to get through this mess quickly?"  Believe it or not it has worked more often than not

See the post above yours.  I explain this - that's the one thing I hadn't tried (the link here from the second page of notes) and I've alerted Bakalor that he has to fix that one, too, and I'm sure he will by this evening.  BUTT - why has no one saved the discussion board as a favorite???  Of course, if you saved it AFTER using the button on the second page of notes (prior to yesterday) you're going to have to resave it as a favorite - so, once again, you can ALWAYS get to the board by typing in

haineshisway.com/community

Then save it as a favorite.

The Unseemly Button and the link at the bottom of page two's notes were the ONLY problems on the site, as they were never supposed to use an ip address in the link - but somehow they did.  All the other pages on the site and on the board don't, so that's why they work fine.

My problem last night was I had it saved as a favorite, but I did it a long time ago when it still saved as an IP address and not as Haineshisway.com/community

Had to work today, so I missed the Great HHW Lockout of 2008.

Adult book....hmmmmmmmm.....probably Gone With the Wind.  I loved it, and wanted to read all the novels about the Civil War....but then I found From Here to Eternity and I gave up on books written by dames and started looking for books written by GUYS!!!

I wonder if he will hook his thumbs in his panties?
