Ask BK Day!

Can you give us any updates on who may be appearing at the Bacharach Gala in December?  Any chance that the wonderful Dionne Warwick (a supporter of Bacharach and AIDS Fundraising) might join the event?

My deepest sympathies to DR Jane, DH Keith, and their entire family on the passing of Keith's mother.

I should have a list on Friday night, but the ones I know for sure are Liz Callaway, Jason Graae, Linda Purl, Kevin Spirtas, some kid who's in the current cast of Spring Awakening, and several soap opera people.  We're just starting to approach the bigger names and we're definitely hoping to get a few.

I, too, adore THE TIME MACHINE. It was mesmerizing to a kid in the theaters in 1960, and I saw it several times. The Morlocks always scared me to death, and the special effects for the time were very impressive. Even simple things like the books that crumbled into dust and the spinning information rings, just fabulous. And all the time lapse photography was one of the things I went back to the movie to see. Just loved seeing those clothes on that mannequin changing over time.

It's ironic that two of my all-time favorite movies are about time travel - TIME AFTER TIME and THE TIME MACHINE.  I saw THE TIME MACHINE for the first time in a theater down in Redondo Beach, California.  I had actually hoped to see the movie 13 GHOSTS down in Redondo; because Rosemary De Camp lived down at the corner from the friends we were staying with on our vacation, and for some reason I thought it would be really cool to see the movie just a few blocks from her house.  Unfortunately, 13 GHOSTS had already left that theater, so we saw THE TIME MACHINE instead.

However, I fell madly in love with THE TIME MACHINE (and Rod Taylor).  I can still sit through that film a few dozen times and never grow tired of the it.  And the score is beautiful.

And that wonderful Russell Garcia score really establishes a mood for the entire film.

I should have known that Ron would know who composed the score.

Gene Kelly. But of course he would have to teach me.

Yes, the Garcia score (available on CD) is fantastic.  I would also add to the time travel movies I'm fond of, Somewhere In Time.  I got rid of my DVD, unfortunately, as I feel like watching it now.  But, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, both DVD incarnations are not anamorphically enhanced for widescreen TVs.  Given the film's incredibly loyal following, you'd think Universal would do the right thing.

Somehow I have never managed to catch up with THE TIME MACHINE. Someday.

Obama is going to announce his running mate by text message? So that's how he will get access to cell phone numbers in order to do campaign calls and get past the "Do not call" bit about cell phone numbers?

Not to me.  He is sending me an e-mail.

I love "Time After Time" but should I be embarrased to say that I've never seen "The Time Machine" all the way through? :-\

Hmm.... OK.  I wonder if that is what is required under the Oregon state laws in regards to sex offender registration.  Some localities put their faces on a database and/or on cable TV, I guess good old-fashioned leafletting is still in place in some areas.

Well, it is required under Washington State law, and hopefully that is where George is still living.

Donny and Marie will be starting a new long-term gig at The Flamingo Hotel in Lost Wages.  They are taking over the theater previously housing the Toni Braxton show.

They all speak English very well...most educated Indians do...usually with a British accent.

Did I ever mention that there is quite the problem with the casting couch for Bollywood actors?

On a completely unrelated note, TD and I are in the process now of opening our own talent agency in Mumbai.

Oh, yes all those actors pictured are Indian.

And would you believe I do happen to have that gentleman's wife's phone number.

Oh, and he was just in NYC at that event that DR Jose mentioned the other day.

That statement sounded weird.  However, I did meet a Pakistani man who looked a lot like one of those men, and he spoke very little English.  He did know the word, again, however.
