Hmm... Did they really need to break into the Noon News with a special report... "Michelle Obama Walking Thru the Pepsi Center in Denver"... WHAT?!?!?!?
I gotta wonder - how many ads during the convention will we be seeing from Coke?

Here's my fave: S. Morgenstern, author (with William Goldman) of The Princess Bride.
And also of The Silent Gondoliers.  (Not as well known, but I happen to love it.)

To our intrepid list-keepers, DRs der Brucer and SWW, next time it's updated, please correct the spelling of Sharyn McCrumb's first name.

And, thanks, as always, for doing this for us every Monday!

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from MoMA... Where it turns out they offer free WiFi. So, not only can I access the Internet via my iPhone, but I can also take advantage of MoMA Audio which describes the various exhibitions and selected works of Art. Cool!

That's true...I remember him because about six years and a half ago, I played Charlie Brown in a local production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and we did the revised version, so we all had copies of the CD.

I, of course, bought it when it was first released. ;)

I went and did some errands and will soon get a Subway turkey sandwich for lunch.  I'm going to be very good this week and make sure I don't go over 12 to 1500 calories.  That way I may actually be able to fit into a pair of nice pants for the opening night on Friday.

YAGMCB has a number of special memories for me: back when I was a sprig of a twig of a lad, I volunteered at the Pearl Theatre Company, which was (and is) located at 80 St. Marks Place. That theater was the original off-broadway house where YAGMCB played in 1967. The Pearl was considering doing a concert version of the show featuring the original cast members, and, while that program never happened, I did get to meet the late Clark Gesner, the original composer and a charming gentleman.

I saw the last performance of the Broadway revival, and Mr. Gesner was present. After the show, I found him outside the theater and struck up a conversation. He commented to me that he was watching the show from the back of the house and noticed me in the standing room section (where I could dance along with the show without disturbing fellow audience members), and was flattered at how much I obviously enjoyed the show.

From what I gathered, Gesner was able to live a decent life off of the royalties from Charlie Brown, and spent the last years of his life reviewing shows and occasionally performing in Vermont. A gentleman of the theater, and one that I feel privileged to have met.

I didn't even know the name of the Marx Brothers' father.  I knew from Minnie.  That was it.
But I've got another ballplayer:  Oakland A's pitcher
Steve McCatty, noted for getting his arm blown out from overuse by Billy Martin.
