T.O.D.

Steve Lawrence - I loved just about everything he sang (GO AWAY LITTLE GIRL, I'VE GOTTA BE ME).  I thought he was incredible.  I am very glad that he and Edyie had such a wonderful marriage, but I couldn't stand her on stage.  My feelings were not helped by reading William Goldman's THE SEASON.

Nat King Cole - MONA LISA, NATURE BOY, UNFORGETTABLE

Jack Jones - Well, I never met his wives, but when I was in high school and college, I certainly would have liked to be one of his lovers.

Is there a reason that I have to continue to receive e-mails with the subject line: The Real Reason Why You Are FAT?

Do they really expect people to respond favorably to that?

It is very windy here, however it doesn't appear it will rain.

I was lazy & drove to the mail box.  I'm still doing laundry & putting stuff away from our trip, and pre-trip, as well as washing towels from Sherlock's shower.  He uses two loads worth.

If a Charo
Eats a churro
And then
Downs a chimichanga

Then performs
The hoochie-coochie
As if
Both her legs were longa

Then she may
Ensnare a sai-
Lor with her
Sexy siren song-a...

Iowa College President Quits Over Beer Photo Scandal, Gets $400G

FORT DODGE, Iowa —  An Iowa community college president resigned less than a week after a photo was published appearing to show him pouring beer into a young woman's mouth.
The school's board of trustees on Thursday unanimously approved Robert Paxton's resignation. It also approved a severance package that officials said was valued at about $400,000.

A lousy 440K - that'll teach him!

That is a very frightening path!

Indeed!

The Mayor of New Orleans has ordered a mandatory evacuation.

The issue is not will their be victims, but rather, where will the victims be.

The Republicans have tough choices to make, To hold a celebratory convention while people are running for their lives is not a good idea.

One of the prime reasons for a convention is to get PR - and now all eyes will be on the Gulf Coast, not the Twin Cities.

The logistics of postponing the convention are horrendous - in fact it is well neigh impossible; rearranging thousands of hotel accommodations and convention space on short notice just can't be done.

One way or another, the Republican Party must meet in convention to conduct the business of the company.

I suspect the convention will proceed on schedule with a re-arrangement of activities and a radical very definite change in tone.

I have a question for the foodies regarding prime rib:

I know it is a standing rib roast, and I only see it around the holidays in the store. What do they sell it as the rest of the year?

You get get the bone in variety if you ask your butcher; otherwise, they usually sell rolled rib roasts (the ones tied up with butcher twine).

Only a real purist would notive the difference in flavor bewteen the bone-in standing roast and the bone-out rolled roast - and the rolled roast is a bit easier to prepare and serve.

I had no idea as my mother purchased prime rib all year round.  I didn't know it was the same thing as a standing rib roast.

Good Evening!

I'm back from dinner.  I met up with my friend, Michael - who was also at La Cocina the other night - and dined on Thai food at Pam Real Thai Encore.  (Yes, that's the real name of the restaurant.)  We had tried to get into the "real" Pam Real Thai, but they were quite busy, and I've learned over the course of a some visits that when they are crazy-busy there, the service and kitchen begins to "lack", so...  "Encore" was busy, but not too busy, and I also noticed that there was a huge Thai family having some sort of celebration dinner there, so...

The food was very good, and the portions were quite generous too.  I also think the prices may have been lowered since the last time I was there;  Michael and I got out of there for just $18.00 - and that included a rather generous tip!  -Well, Michael got out of there for just $18.00 since he ended up treating me for my ever-continuing Birthday week. :)

-I'm lovin' my 40s so far!  ;D
