Is there a reason that I have to continue to receive e-mails with the subject line: The Real Reason Why You Are FAT?

I'm just wondering where there is so much "Watch" spam - ???

I have a question for the foodies regarding prime rib:

I know it is a standing rib roast, and I only see it around the holidays in the store. What do they sell it as the rest of the year?

Hamburger.

;D

But, as other DRs have already stated, you can buy prime rib throughout the year as just "prime rib".  -Usually it is cryovac'd "off the bone".

*I still remember going to Faneuil Hall in Boston with my godparents, and they encouraged me to order the Prime Rib at Durgin Park.  WOW!  It was the first time I had had Prime Rib served on the bone.  I felt like Fred Flintstone!

And I hope that DR Ginny and Richard didnt/don't have a hard time making their way back across Times Square after seeing The 39 Steps tonight.  Times Square was very, very, very busy and crowded when I was down there about an hour ago.  -Which was quite a change from earlier today.

OH!

And on my way into my building, I ran into the landlord's assistant, and asked him if he knew if there was any sort of time-table in place for the work on the new water heaters and boilers.  It turns out the landlord is having all of the water heater and boilers in all three of her buildings replaced.  They are already running two weeks behind on the first building.  And we're in the "third" building.  So..  Guess I can rearrange my room after I get back from Charlotte next weekend.  :)

It looks as though tonight's monsoon storm missed us. It looked all day like we'd get one for sure. Such is life in the desert.

Hmm.. A standing rib roast with no bones?  Hmm...

So, if it has no bone, how does it "stand"?  ;)

In any case...

I understand your confusion - and after Googling for some more information, I'm a bit confused right now too.  However, after some of the Googling, I came across this informative article:

We will certainly pray that Gustav hits unoccupied land and "downsizes" quickly.

I had no idea as my mother purchased prime rib all year round.  I didn't know it was the same thing as a standing rib roast.

Two separate issues:

"standing rib" refers to the cut of meat.
"prime" refers to the USDA grade of beef.

Unfortunately, most people confuse the two and refer to any grade of rib roast as "prime-rib". Very few butchers actually carry USDA Grade Prime beef - is is exported to Japan or reserved for hotels and restaurants.

Butcher shops selling beef that has not crossed state lines often market non USDA graded beef.

The regular cow sold in markets is USDA Select, or it's equivalent The better cuts are USDA Choice.

We will certainly pray that Gustav hits unoccupied land and "downsizes" quickly.

There is little unoccupied land in its path - Gulf Coast real estate is quite desireable. Also, even if it "downsizes" the giant wave surge it is generating will still continue on to shore and cause considerable damage. What the fat boy who just did a canonball gets out of the pool, the waves he created still cross the pool. Remember, the majority of the damage Katrina caused to New Orleans was not casued by the wind, but by the wave surge.

Watching Project Runway, and something confuses me which I don't THINK is a spoiler, but jut in case:

PROJECT RUNWAY POSSIBLE SPOILER

What is the point of an outfit that a model can't sit down in?  Is there any practical value in such an outfit that is not wearable in real life?

I don't think that was the design, DR Fred. I think the designer just ran out of time to stitch it properly, so to keep the thing together before the show, he asked her not to sit down.

Tickets are now on sale to AmEx cardholders for the Broadway production of WHITE CHRISTMAS.

Does that count as a Christmas sale sighting?

Yes, DR Jose, it was mobbed when we left our show and we dove right into the thick of it by stopping at both M&M World and Hershey on the way back.  At one point, I commented to DH Richard about the contrast between those crowds and the quietness of Time Warner Center and the UWS this morning.  At least we now have treats to take home to people, plus a few items for ourselves.

Oh, and we had fun seeing The 39 Steps!

I did manage to watch all of the remaining GHOST WHISPERER episodes tonight with time to spare. I had forgotten some of those revelations from the season finale, so it was good to see them again. Very touching.
