I swore I wasn't going to participate in THE GAME anymore, but I can't let Jake Delhomme, the Quarterback of the Carolina Panthers be forgotten.

You must participate in The Game.  The Game is.

And yet there was still one left for me to post.

Silent movie actress of the 19-teens, and later character actress in the 1940s (Curse of the Cat People)  Julia Dean.

I am glad you heard from your friend and that she sounds good, Jane.

Thank you.

Good compared to what I feared would happen.  She still has a long road ahead of her.  You can imagine my frustration I couldn't speak to her, especially after we couldn't speak to Keith's mother.

So is Gustav doing what was predicted or is it passing through without causing too much grief?

From what I understand, it gets MUCH better after the first episode, so it might be worth a look. I remember not being at all impressed by the pilot of THE CLOSER, but apparently the creators took the comments of the critics to heart and made adjustments, and look at it now!

Hmmm...We immediately liked THE CLOSER.

Der B and Woody -  so  for the sake of helping to keep his name alive on the internet, may we put his name on the list as a jazz pianist?

Done, with pleasure.

Author John Derbyshire - very well thought of first novel called Seeing Calvin Coolidge In A Dream - a signed copy of which sits on my bookshelf.

And now a most-annoying right-wing columnist for The National Review.

there is one plus side to Hanna, parts of the southeast will get some much needed moisture. I suspect a gentle would have been preferred

No apologies necessary, BK, the only name I recognized in your post-jog list is Jo Jo Dancer.  It's not like I was going to get there first with the others.  The only ones I can legitimately kick myself from you are the Dankworths and Jack Dabdoub.

J. Rocco Danforth----one of George Carlin's characters.  Usually done in his "newscasts", along with Al Sleet, the hippy-dippy weatherman.

As a sidebar, can anybody tell me the name of the George Carlin character in his "Let's Make a Deal" bit?  A hint:  her initials are C.B.

And Cillaliz's around-the-house mega projects never cease to amaze me. I know she says that she doesn't do these things all the time, but I'm still impressed.

Thanks Jeanne. It's always more work than I think it will be, though.  It's just so worth it to get a job done and know I did it.  I did get the bench all the way around my deck sanded today.  So, as soon as the weather gets cooler - it's 90 degrees with high humidity today, I'll prime and paint it.   Not going to get the cement cracks filled, but that's a job I could do in an evening so I'm not too worried about that.

She's already being accused of covering up one daughter's "error':

"Sarah, I'm calling you a liar" wrote blogger ArcXIX. "And not even a good one. Trig Paxson Van Palin is not your son. He is your grandson. The sooner you come forward with this revelation to the public, the better. "
