The DP and I are making an offer on a house today.  Or at least bringing our offer and deposit to the realtor today.  This is my first time doing anything like this.  I can safely say I am excited AND scared.

But I'm sure you look great in your Red Hood, and your DP has surely stocked your basket with lots of baked goodies.

Into the woods
To see-
To sell-
To get-
To bring-
To make-
To lift-

To buy a House!

...And home before dark!

Ooh...!

I think I'll head up to Inwood/Washington Heights and see if I can track a Piragua Man!

:)

*Besides, I think I've had enough ice cream and gelato over the past couple of days.

Wonder if Piragua Man's business has picked up since IN THE HEIGHTS

Thank you DearReader Laura.  That was your good deed!

It's actually sort of a strange time as Derek died sometime on the night of Sept1/2.  I spoke with Maureen yesterday. She went to work which she has avoided at this time the past two years. I hope she managed the day.  Grief is such a personal burdon. Derek's other siblings cope in the "blocking it all out" way.

Seriously Matthew, owning a house can be a lot of work, but there's nothing like the feeling that it's yours.  It's very exciting.  My advice is do a deep cleanining and paint whatver walls you want to paint before moving in. It's a lot easier than when you have your stuff in the house.

I just wish one of them was closer to me in my 'hood.  I sometimes see one or two up on Broadway and 14th, but they're not "regulars".

*And I really can't wait for Lin-Manuel Miranda to finish up his forthcoming YouTube series: "Legally Brown: The Search for the Next Piragua Guy".  I know some people who were a part of the filming, and none of them could keep a straight face while they were telling me about it.  Good times! ;D

We once took the easy way out and served bought Lemon gelato at a dinner instead of the sorbet we had planned.  I doubt anyone knew the difference.

From what I understand, it gets MUCH better after the first episode, so it might be worth a look. I remember not being at all impressed by the pilot of THE CLOSER, but apparently the creators took the comments of the critics to heart and made adjustments, and look at it now!

The reviewers I've read have seen the first FOUR episodes and the only positive thing I've read is that it goes from hideous to not quite awful in those four episodes.

In fun neighbor news - Our very dear neighbor Tony Chiroldes is understudy for the Piragua Guy and apparently has been playing the part for the past week.

OY!

So.. Just when I thought I had finally explained to my mom that if she buys the theatre tickets herself via Telecharge (phone or website) and uses the new Season of Savings discount codes, she would get them cheaper than if I put a house seat request in for them...  -And it looks like some of the house seats for Gypsy this week just got released for public sale...

"Well, I just called Telecharge, and they said there would be a service charge for each ticket... Can't you just go down to the box office for me with my credit card number and give it to them?"

Hmm... :P

*Although, she just called back... After doing the rest of the math, she realized that she's still saving about $35 per ticket, so...  Whew!  ;)

The "Cioccolata Extranoir" is actually a sorbet.  -And, yes, it's insanely delicious.  Just ask DR Ginny's DH Richard. ;)

And the "Crema di Grom" is a gelato.

Here's some more info on the flavor: Extra-Noir Chocolate.

So are we. Hugo, which was one of the worst disasters ever in this area, happened in 1989, so another "H" hurricane is a scary thought.

Had a pretty great afternoon of viewing. I began with rewatching the second episode of BURN NOTICE. This is the one where Michael helps the elderly lady who was scammed out of her life savings. I really love this episode.
