Oh, so does that apply to Mark-Paul Gosselaar's hair too?

;)

Yes, I've read reviews comparing his look to that of a heroin addict. And Jane Kazmarek has received almost universal pans from everything I've read.

Please post a link when it comes out, that sounds hilarious

Well, there's a brief preview of sorts in one of Seth Rudetsky's recent columns:

And speaking of Seth Rudetsky...

In his most recent Playbill.com column, he shares the story of Loretta Ables Sayre, the Bloody Mary in the current revival of South Pacific.  It's a truly wonderful and moving and inspiring story.  Well, worth the time to read it.

ONSTAGE & BACKSTAGE: A Bloody Good Week

*And there's even some stuff for "Project Runway" fans at the top of the article.

Next I watched NEXT AVENGERS: Heroes of TOmorrow on Blu-ray. It's a made-for-video animated feature with children of the great Marvel superheroes like Thor and Captain America. Not much depth to the story but I'm sure pre-teens would like the fights and the back and forth banter as the kids bait each other.

I watched all of the bonus features on the disc, too. There were two featurettes on the making of the movie plus two previews of other Marvel animated films on DVD.

Since I finished my reviewing chores for the day early, I put on THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT III on Blu-ray and watched about 45 minutes of it. (I got to the begnning of the Debbie Reynolds-"Glamor" segment).

Of the three TE films, the third one looks and sounds BY FAR the best on Blu-ray. Some of those Technicolor clips are truly spectacular looking in HD. Makes one really hunger for the movies to start turning up on Blu-ray.

And for anyone who might be contemplating seeing a Broadway or Off-Broadway show over the next couple of weeks...

Season of Savings

*I have to say, the pickings seem a bit slimmer this Fall than usual.  I guess with the continued box office "success" of Wicked and Jersey Boys, and the crazy-good pre-sale of Equus, Billy Elliot and All My  Sons that's to be expected.  -Along with the recent slew of closings over the past couple of months.

"Marguerite" closes in London on Sept 13th.  We see it on Sept 12th.

Ruthie Henshell's voice has not stood up to the role it seems!

I keep expecting to see a photo of hurricane damage with the tag line: "GUSTAV MAULER".

The New York Post will gladly steal the idea.   :P

My niece decided that at her 3rd birthday party in 2 weeks she would like to play musical chairs. So we practiced today. 2 chairs, 2 players. Then my sister decided to play (2 chairs, 3 players). And she beat my niece. After that my niece decided she only wanted to play with me. :)

I'm catching up.  Der Brucer is taking a well-earned nap.  OK, another well-earned nap.  I'll get to work on the list when I get to that point.  Everybody keep your tighty whities untwisted.

I had not heard this. :(

Were the reviews that bad?

I'm still hoping to get the cd.

Please explain "Piragua Guy" to me. Thank you.

Hmm...

Well, first of all, he's a character in the musical, In The Heights.

Secondly, he has a song called "Piragua".  -Which, in the show, is essentially there to cover a scene transition, but it's a fun song, and Eliseo Roman can really sing those high(!) notes.

A piragua is a basically a snow cone that's comes together after the "piragua man" shaves some ice off a block of ice, puts it into a cone, then pours the flavored syrup - or two, or even a rainbow! - of your choice over top.

The CD is certainly available in (from) the UK DR Jennifer - and is it quite an enjoyable listen.
Ruthie's voice is great on the recording. Friends who saw the show a week or so ago said her acting is great but her voice is "shot".

So, we've learned that Sockeye salmon is red salmon.  Isn't salmon pink?  And why "sockeye"?  Maybe if you sock a salmon in the eye the eye gets red.

There is "pink salmon" too.  However, the Red Sockeye has more of the good oils and antioxidants in it.

This from my friend Pam in London:

Jaqueline, who took us, said that she has been really off, and boy did it show. She sounded very husky, off key, and at times inaudible.  Which was such a shame, because the rest of the cast were working their butts off, and were so good, particularly, Armand - Julian Ovenden. He is great to look at, a wonderful singer, and actually plays the piano in the show as well.

I will say though, that Henshall to me is an extremely good actress, and had her singing been up to par, she would have been amazing
(Jaqueline is one of the production staff for Marguerite)

Houses have only been 60%.

And Mr. Softee's truck has broken down!
And here comes all his customers my way
I told you, I run the town!

Piragua, Piragua
