Canned salmon is pink, because it has been cooked.

Farm-raised salmon is pink, although a much more vibrant pink than canned.

Wild-caught salmon, on the other hand, is definately red.  And it tastes better, too.  Tom, our seafood guy, made sure I knew about that.

Also on TV tonight is the season premiere of PRISON BREAK. I've never gotten into the show but for those who have, it's a two hour premiere.

And for anyone who might be contemplating seeing a Broadway or Off-Broadway show over the next couple of weeks...

Season of Savings

*I have to say, the pickings seem a bit slimmer this Fall than usual.  I guess with the continued box office "success" of Wicked and Jersey Boys, and the crazy-good pre-sale of Equus, Billy Elliot and All My  Sons that's to be expected.  -Along with the recent slew of closings over the past couple of months.

At least a until the year anniversary of the Broadway opening, I think.  However, she is touring a concert act next season with Mandy Patinkin, so I'm guessing she'll be having some scheduled absences.

Would that be in the fall of 08, or did it open in 08?

The new David Cambell CD has been getting airplay here!

My information was incorrect.  Tracks from "First and Foremost" are being played.  (It is a repackaging of his first two cDs).

The New Cd is due out at the end of October.

Joseph Dabney, author of Smokehouse Ham, Spoon Bread, & Scuppernong Wine: The Folklore and Art of Appalachian Cooking.

Don't have it yet, it's on my wishlist, but any book with Scuppernong in the title has to be worth it!

This morning I received a phone call that brought me tears of joy.
My friend called me from the hospital & I was able to talk to her. :D

In the last weeks I’ve shed many tears out of fear for her.  I’m still all choked up I spoke to her, and she sounded good. :)  I pray there are no more setbacks and she continues to improve.

Great news, Jane!!

Jean Dalrymple - founder of City Center and producer of many, many musicals there.

And then there's Jean, the chacter in the musical Brigadoon, who marries Charlie Dalrymple to become Jean Dalrymple...who, I think, was named after the real Jean Dalrymple.

James Dickerson, author of Last Suppers: If The World Ended Tomorrow, What Would Be Your Last Meal?

No, seriously, someone wrote a book like this.  And the people who responded are quite an interesting list.

Recipes included, of course.
