Pogue, how great you saw Hostile Witness on the stage.  Yes, the opening up and all that nonsense in the first twenty minutes was a bore.  Much better idea to have a lawyer walk on and say he's about to be arrested for murder.  BTW, there were two other actors in the film who you saw on tour - the person who turns out to be the murderer, and the dotty friend who provides the alibi - both originated the roles on B'way.

BK, actually the Maitland on Broadway had moved on
by the time I saw it on tour, but you're absolutely right about the murderer.  I checked my original program, which I still have, against the movie cast.

Happy Birthday to Ioana.

(And I am secretly sending vibes that you have a daughter-in-law soon!)

Thank you very much.  Right now I'm wondering will it be one or two, and which will be first. ;)

Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up...  And I actually found myself quite wide awake around 5:00am... And then since I had meant to make a drug store (a.k.a. Duane Reade) run yesterday, well...  So, I did some early morning shopping... Then stopped for a bagel at Absolute Bagel (which really was a true bagel epiphany!)... Then came back here and listened to some Beethoven for a while (Gilels playing the sonatas)... Then went back to bed for a few more hours... And now...

As for the Topic of the Day...

The final paragraphs of Michael Chabon's "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay".  I would post them, but then I would have to post a "Spoiler Warnng", and, frankly, I'm not in the mood for a good cry right now.  ;)  -A truly perfect, beautiful close to a wonderful piece of literature.

Otherwise...  From "A Catcher in the Rye"...

Quote from Bruce:  "I then went and got me a foot-long Subway turkey sandwich and some balls of cantaloupe and a couple of peaches"

Did the cantaloupes enjoy it asm uch as you? :o ;)

Well... Just as long as "balls of cantaloupe and a couple of peaches" weren't euphemistic descriptions of bk's anatomy.  ;D   :o   ::)

Nope, Ginny. We've just been hearing about a certain young lady for quite some time now, and you seem to like her.

Ok, the resident desert dwellers respectfully request autumn leaf pictures, since we don't get those here in the desert.

Back from the long jog, which was not too hard today - in fact, it was brisker than usual.  I have looked in vain for excellent vibes and xylophones for a no-annoyance day and I have seen none.

A diamond unearthed in the southern African nation of Lesotho could yield one of the largest and highest quality round polished diamonds, according to a statement Monday from company that found it.

Experts in Antwerp, Belgium who analyzed the 478-carat stone determined it to be of the highest color grading available for a white diamond, said a statement from Gem Diamonds Ltd., the company that found the stone.
