June Haver, of course, was being groomed by Fox to take over from Betty Grable in their long tradition of blonde musical stars. Then Marilyn Monroe happened and poor June was just a limp dishrag in comparison. No wonder she left the business.

Watching LOVE NEST is almost cruel because all Marilyn has to do is walk into the frame and ALL eyes go to her.

Happy 70,000 posts!

I agree with elmore, that the promises made usually can't be kept and not always because intentions aren't genuine, but because of how our government works.

Menudo, spinach salad with lemon tahini dressing, cauliflower, and for dessert I had a mix of raw almonds and walnuts.

I saw a copy of this on eBay a few weeks ago, but I forgot to bid! :'( I hate it when that happens.

Hmmm...I never thought of looking for this on the 'Bay.

The 'Bay.  I should copywright or trademark that.

I've rented a house. Or will tomorrow when I sign the lease and hand over my deposit.

Happy New House, Panni!  Is it the abode of choice?

It's not the cute one in the picture. It's very close to where I live now -- but on a lovely, lovely street. Just the size I wanted. With a guest room AND an office. A fenced backyard (a gardener included in the rent) -- and I was wrong about no major appliances. It has ALL the appliances .  A very nice house. And totally by coincidence, old Canadian friends live two doors away. It's more than I had wanted to pay, but I'm going to take a chance.

DR Jennifer - The class is "voluntary" - more or less.  However, it is a great warm-up, and it's a true dancer's warm up - concentrates on stretching, flexibility, balance, line, strength, etc.  However, if someone has their own personal warm-up, or needs to warm-up differently due to injuries or something like that, then they can do the parts of the class that work for them, then do their own thing when it suits them.

I do a "modified" version of the class, mainly since I can not touch my toes, nor bring my forehead down to my knee caps.  But I do what I can.  My crunches and sit-ups may not go as "far" as the other people in the class, but I do pretty well - especially since I'm just "the pianist". ;)

-Oh, and after only two days, I can already tell that my jeans are fitting better.  -And the "exhaustion" has also been helping me sleep better too.

There was a very enjoyable bin at WalMart today, filled with DVDs, all of which were of the horror genre, and all of which were on sale for $5.  The Abominable Dr. Phibes, Dr. Phibes Rises Again, and Theater of Blood have been added to our collection.

Since we also added Aladdin I suppose I should be watching that, but Vincent Price is so much more fun.

I did not watch the debate.  I occupied my time cooking dinner and updating our DVD database, far more practical ways of spending my time.

I actually had a chat with the two guys who now live there (a couple, I believe) and they had very nice things to say about the landlord.

i asked the guys if the stove worked well. They said they had never used it! But they said the microwave was just fine. One of them asked the other about the dishwasher. I guess there is a definite division of labor in their household.

Congrats again, DR Panni!

Is it close enough to where you currently live that you'll be able to take Abie to the same park to play with his regular peeps?

Thank you, DTM! Yes, the park is near. I can walk it easily or, if I feel lazy,  drive there in 2 minutes.

The next good vibes I'll ask for from you all will be for lots of great jobs coming my way.
I feel good about all this - I think it will work fine. A good omen -- I received in the mail today one of my "miracle checks" - that's what I call totally unexpected residuals. This check is exactly enough to pay for all the moving expenses - with perhaps a little left over.

BTW (internet lingo!), tonight I am a fine example of a person who makes the mistake of buying Halloween candy two weeks too early (particularly when said Halloween candy is a bag of mini Twix bars.)  I am so hopped up on sugary goodness right now that not only am I up late and posting here, but also reading and responding to e-mail from work, scanning the 'Baytm for Alexis Smith items, listening to the OCR of Merrily We Roll Along, and working some mischief on r.a.t.m.  I am mutlitasking my head off!
