Have a good rehearsal DRJOSE.

DR RLP - how could you let Annette and Lonnie, Bobby and Darlene, and Karen and Cubby just linger on the shelf?

A girl on my local TV just announced the a church in the area will be presenting HEN-DALL's Messiah this weekend!

Suppose you were reading a mystery novel, let's say it's WRITER'S BLOCK, and someone other than the author randomly removed up to 40 % of the novel. . .would you still want to read that novel?
That's how I feel about widescreen and full frame, for the latter, someone has removed about 40% of the picture . . .

Would you consider this as a true reproduction of Da Vinci's THE LAST SUPPER?

Haven't been to a Barnes and Noble yet, elmore, but perhaps on the way to the radio show tonight.  Again I will say, those who tune in and listed will get several treats.  The link is somewhere on page one I believe, thanks to jrand.

I'm a little amazed at the number of Dear Readers who have not seen The Godfather and The Godfather Part II.  I mention them not as Marlon Brando films per se, but rather as two of the best films ever made.
I'm one of those who hasn't seen any of the Godfather films, and you may have helped pinpoint the reason why.  Not only am I not attracted to Mafia-themed films, but I'm not attracted to Brando films.  Never cared for him.  So the combination of Brando and Mafia isn't going to be high on my must-see list.

On the other hand, I did enjoy Teahouse, but that's hardly standard Brando, is it?

O'Toole in "The Ruling Class" was beyond brilliant.  But....O'Toole is my favorite actor of all time.

Very true.  I felt there were three brilliant nominees that year and Brando didn't equal them.

I recommend these films for their craft.  The writing, direction, acting, cinematography, score, editing and scenic design all come together as an organic whole in these two pictures far more successfully than in most any other film I've seen.

Joey thank you for the much needed healing vibes.  My cousin has serious health issues that will complicate her treatment.

Thank you Panni and elmore.

Jose good surgery vibes to your father!  You will keep us posted?  I also think you have a right to worry and to get more detail.

It got me to thinking that there seems to be this whole little sub-category of women who we think of primarily as comediennes who have great vocal chops (and somehow we have forgotten that fact):  Misses Ballard and Ghostley to name two.  Miss Walker.  Miss Martha Raye.  To some degree, Miss Burnett.  Am I missing others?  I am sure I am.
Add Tracey Ullman, who had a couple of Billboard hits in '84: "They Don't Know" and "Breakaway."

How about another intriguing category of comic-persons (how's that for PC!) we always expect to laugh at, and then we find them in deadly serious roles doing a bang-up job: Art Carney - (Harry and Tonto) ... Red Buttons - (Sayonara) ...
Comedy is hard, winning an Oscar (and getting the big paychecks later) makes it all easy.

Just had a very sweet call from our very own Michele Pawk.  I must tell you, dear readers, I sent out many invites, both regular and e-mail, to all the people I've worked with over the years, and Michele, of all of the people who were no-shows, is the only one who had the courtesy to call me and tell me she was out of town and sorry she missed it.  Frankly, I just don't understand people sometimes - how much work did I have to give folks, how many albums did I have to put people on, how many recording careers did I have to give before people learn to have loyalty or at least graciousness.  It does take me aback sometimes and sometimes it even takes me afront.

Well, BK, if you put me on just one album, I would probably follow you around for life!

I officially HATE new winter boots!!!

My feet are both two giant blisters.  It's so bad I might not even be able to take them OFF :(

DR Emily, have you ever tried on a pair of Ugg boots?  My sister swears by them (which is a strange sight, her standing there cursing while standing next to a pair of boots.)

Evening all,

Jane, please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your Uncle.  My very best good wishes for your cousin as well.

DR Jose, those same good wishes to your father.

I'm glad that BK had a wonderful birthday.

Danise you need to be more verbal and plan something yourself.  Call a friend and say it is your birthday “let’s do something”.  Maybe your friends will be busy but it’s worth a try.  I have even treated a friend to lunch just so we could go out together (she couldn’t afford to pay).  I make sure I have plans if I want to do something.

I'm very sorry, Jane, but I would never do that.  If I'm remembered then I'm remembered but if I'm not, so be it.

Thanks Panni.  That was in the past because I had very nice birthday right here on HHW.

And don't you ever forget it, Danise.  Every day in my prayers I make sure that I:
Thank God for my Friends.
Thank God for my Family.
And I thank God for my Friends that have become my Family.

Your right, TCB, as always. I am very grateful for the friendships I've made here.

I promised I would never drag things from one board to the other  but I have to say that last night I saw something on another board that had my jaw hitting the floor.  I don't consider myself a prude but one poster told another poster to do something that I can't even repeat--at least not in public.

I almost contacted the board administrator and told myself, “No, it’s not my place to say anything” Then I almost contacted him again--even typed up a long PM and my hand hovered over the send button but I told myself, “It’s not your place.”

I noticed it was gone this evening.  I just had to go back and check but I’m still in a state of shock that someone could have said something like that.

I’m so glad we don’t talk to one another like that.

End of rant.

JMK, I am beginning to think that BK is skipping our posts! He has still not answered our Portland questions from today or yesterday.

Don't feel rained on.  He never answered my $54.00 question either.   ;)  :)

Big news of the day.

I'm so scared and happy and excited all at the same time.  I might be getting a new (to me) vehicle.  A 1991 Ford Explorer.

There was an ad in our work bulletin for one at an unbelievable low price.   I went to look at it today and it is a nice royal blue color.  I’ve already decided that if I get her, she shall be named Bonnie Blue and yes, I do name all of my vehicles.  I’m driving the “A” team van now.

The battery was dead on her today but the lady said her son was going to put a new one in tonight so I can test drive her tomorrow.   I just can’t wait!

There is, SWW, the additional pleasure of watching, both a young Al Pacino and a young James Caan.

Still no one has mentioned one of the Brando movies I listed as a favorite. His first, THE MEN, directed by Fred Zinnemann, written by Carl Foreman, score by Dimitri Tiomkin. Co-starring the lovely Teresa Wright. Surely people have seen it...?

I have seen THE MEN DR Panni, but for some reason I had forgotten that Brando was in it! It was a very good movie, however.

S. Woody, how can you possibly know if you'll get enjoyment or not - in order to get enjoyment or not you'd actually have to watch the Godfather movies, which I, too, recommend.  I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but these films transcend the gangster genre.  They're wondefully written, directed and acted, with brilliant photography by Gordon Willis and wonderful scores by Nino Rota.
