I meant to say this, perhaps I did, but it never hurts to repeat...

EXCELLENT VIBES TO DR JOSE'S FATHER!

It would have to be on at the same time as The Apprentice!  Of course, I do have three VCRs so that the taping of the TV show will absolutely NOT be a problem!! ;D

I do hope we get some call-ins from dear readers on the radio show this evening.  Maybe Hisaka will call in all the way from Japan.  Perhaps I'll play a Japanese show tune tonight.

I have the Japanese cast recordings of Hair, Scarlett, The Phantom of the Opera and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  But reading the description of the radio show, I can't imagine that they'd have ANY trouble finding something to play for ANY of your fans from around the world!

The curse of people who write for a living is that you never quite get the feeling that you're finally no longer in school.
Tonight, for example, fueled by popcorn and hot chocolate, I'll be pulling as much of an all-nighter as I can manage. I have a big meeting with the right coast tomorrow for which I need to have all my ducks in a row story-wise. (Yes - I'm writing a script about duck hunting.) I'm the one who suggested tomorrow because I tend to thrive under pressure. Let us hope. My ideas are there - floating all over the place. I just need to rope them in and organize them.

BTW - On my way home from borrowing some popcorn (I ran out and who wants to go to the supermarket this time of night with millions of frenzied post-work Christmas-crazed shoppers) - anyway, on my way home, I decided that I needed something sweet. I dropped in to a local bakery/restaurant. They had a slew of interestingly flavored bagels. Usually I abhor sweet bagels, but this time I was willing to give them a taste. This is a place that usually has samples sitting on the counter. I asked if there were any samples available of the cinammon crunch bagels. The young clerk said, "Samples? No. I'll just give you a bagel. If you like it, you'll buy one next time. If you don't like it, I'll give you another flavor."
And he did. And I did like it. And next time I WILL buy one. Now THAT'S good customer PR!

I will, of course, have 88.5 FM on in the background as I work.

Which reminds me - QUESTION FOR BK - you never reported on the Hungarian MY FAIR LADY. What did you think of it?

I liked the Hungarion My Fair Lady.

I'm on for all three hours, which is why the notes will be going up at one or later.

I deleted a more complicated post. This simplifies matters.

Jane, I was wondering the same thing!

Also, Jane, sorry to hear you've had a couple of pieces of bad news this week.

I've had some very long work days this week and tonight a delightful holiday banquet with my mom and husband.   Also, our son came home from his first quarter in college for a well-earned vacation.  I'm ready to crash now, will be a more active conversant tomorrow and over the weekend.  G'night, all, and have fun with BK on the airwaves!

I'm going to attempt to record it.  It's three hours long, so I don't know if that's too much for my computer to handle, but we'll see.  If it works (and that's a big IF), I can make copies for people...unless Bruce can get copies. ::)

There is, SWW, the additional pleasure of watching both a young Al Pacino and a young James Caan.
Neither of whom have ever been a turn-on for me.  That's horseracing.

Yep, all three hours.  A marathon.  I'm on my way to the studio now.  Keep the home fries burning.  It looks like tomorrow we may just achieve our new plateau - very exciting.  Hope some of you call in whilst I'm on the radio.

S. Woody, how can you possibly know if you'll get enjoyment or not - in order to get enjoyment or not you'd actually have to watch the Godfather movies, which I, too, recommend.  I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but these films transcend the gangster genre.  They're wondefully written, directed and acted, with brilliant photography by Gordon Willis and wonderful scores by Nino Rota.
As I stated earlier, it's not just the genre I don't enjoy, it's also Brando.  For that matter, I don't enjoy Cahn or Pacino much, either.  That doesn't knock the acting out of the ballpark for me; it's a strike-out.

Let's put in a parallel here.  Suppose someone had told you that this most magnificent film had come out, and that you had to see it, and if you didn't there was something wrong with you.  It's a daring film starring a singer in his first dramatic film role, semi-autobiographical but very important.

Would you still have wanted to see 8 Mile?

Me neither.

Al Pacino is actually the star of the three GODFATHER films, not Marlon Brando. Truth be told, I think Brando's role in more supporting in the first one than leading (though his is the character's name in the title). Brando does not appear in either II or III.

Yes, I abhor violence in films, and THE GODFATHER films, particularly the first, have scenes of visceral violence, but it's not merely for shock value. It defines the people and their code of conduct.

We got through the recording of the show tonight. I had one small slip of the tongue in my monologue (sad to say, before I get drunk which might have covered it otherwise), but anyway, I think the taping went well. I'm delighted that's over, however. I can enjoy the rest of the run without feeling under any undue pressure.
