Once upon a time there was a tavern
where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we'd laugh away the hours
and dream of all the great things we would do?

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd laugh and dance forever and a day,
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose,
'cos we were young
and sure to have our way.

Is that all there is?  Is that all there is?  If that's all there is, my friend, then let's keep dancing.  Let's break out the booze, and have a ball.  If that's all there is.  What am I, Peggy Lee all of a sudden?

If you were Peggy Lee wouldn't you be dead?

OH! P L E A S E !

The music to that song is played over and over by ANY musician  -- mostly from Eastern Europe -- begging for some sous in the subway here!

It's played to death!
Even Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates can't stand it anymore!
Even Petula! >:(

The orchestrations were much better than Miss Mayes' behavior deserved.

Okay spill the beans. To let everyone know about Miss Mayes' behavior

I like Sally very much, but she's very opinionated and not always tactful (never with me - but I sure have seen it with others).  Happily, her albums speak for themselves and that's all that's important at the end of the day.

Our merry searchers were here a few days ago - I do hope what they found was right up their ALLEY and I hope it was WORTH it.  And today someone was searching themselves and if they're reading these here posts now, come on in and register and say hey.  I really like this person and haven't spoken to them in years.

I'm sorry it was only me! :D

Well, no! Larry and Bk have answered you!

You know, Michael, this posting thing can be deceiving in many ways!
We might sometimes get the feeling no one cares about what we post but, of course, it's not because there's no answer or reaction that no one noticed!

And I'm sure the merry searchers do care about what anyone says here! Because ... WE'RE WORTH it!

FYNS do it.... so let's fall in love! ;D

For example, right now we have six GUESTS.  If one of them is my old pal, write me at bruce@haineshisway.com.  If not, then all GUESTS should write me and say hello.

Well, DRs, I'm doing something tonight that I haven't done in years. (Do NOT go there!)
I'm baking cookies! I'm suddenly in a hausfrau-ish mood and I made the dough, put it in the fridge and will bake up a storm of little Hanukah cookies either later tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm using DR Jane's recipe. The cookies will, I hope, be deelish and deevine. I shall take a photo of they turn out to look purty. Oh if I only had a frilly white apron and a bouffant hairdo!

Had a nice time at the drop-in tonight. Saw lots of theater folks so that gave me people to talk with and stuff to talk about. I recommended WRITER'S BLOCK, of course.

There must have been a Christmas party at the local NBC station tonight. During the LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT rerun tonight, the technician would remember to switch to high definition for one segment, then forget to switch over for the next, then switch back to HD for the next segment, and so on. It was a seesaw evening all night with that show. Switching aspect ratios back and forth constantly must have driven my poor TV crazy. Certainly made me dizzy.

I was about to post about the movie goodies arriving at the home environment but FS Pogue beat me to it. I'm especially jazzed about WE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, which I'd been planning to see. I think I'll wait for DD's arrival to break open the flicks. She's a big movie fan and will get a kick out of seeing them.
She's made it back safely from Hungary and is now in San Francisco for a couple of days. On Sunday she arrives in LA. Sunday night we're going to a screening of GARDEN STATE, a movie she loves. But what has her very excited is that after the movie there will be a Q&A with Zach Braff the writer/star/director of the movie, on whom she has a crush.

Good Evening!

Back from the show, and it was a good show tonight too - no second night slump.  Everyone's adrenaline was in check, and that helped a lot.  I also went in a bit early to fix some more of my keyboard programming - I realized that I had mixed up one of the velocity control parameters.  It was an easy fix, it just took a bit of time to go through every setup change and make the adjustment over and over and over.  But all done, and I had a better show tonight, imho.  And since I was in early, I was also able to help the sound board operator figure out one of the problems we've been having with the pit monitors.  All in all, I was glad I got in early.

*I would have gotten in earlier, but the typical DC rush hour traffic - both inbound and outbound - was.. ugh!  Ah, well...

Unfortunately, I was not able to make it over to the hospital to visit my father.  However, he's doing much better.  It turns out they gave him a blood transfusion last night which helped a lot, but he'll be in for at least two more days for observation.  If my sinuses and throat are behaving in the morning, then I'll head over before the matinee.  -Wow, it's the weekend already!

Hi, gang.

Leaving early tomorrow morning for the airport for a quick appearance in LA - my dad's 96th birthday. It's my birthday, too, but that hasn't cut any ice for years and years! Oy, wouldn't you guess the heat from all those candles would be just a tad intense??? Then crack of dawn on Sunday, I fly BACK to Seattle, to drive down on Monday. OY.

Oh, well... having a swell time up here at the cabin and wish I could stay a couple of weeks. I was hoping to try out my new gravity/rainwater system... but no rain! It has been just lovely. I hollered at my daffodils, who seem to think a few cold nights a month ago were "winter" - they are poking their little heads up... "get back to bed, little guys!!" And I covered them up with leaves. Should i put slug bait down? What will I find when I come back in May??? Oh, how I love this place.

Well, just thought I'd check in with y'all. Have a nice night.
