I don't think Richard Harrison has anything in his pan.

We have to save Laura for our film noir album.

Now, let me get this perfectly straight - I AM THE ONLY ONE ON THIS BOARD AT SIX O'CLOCK???
On Wednesdays?  Probably.

When it's six o'clock on the West Coast, it's nine o'clock on the East Cost.  We were all busy watching Lost and Alias.

Tonight, for dinner, I made Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Spicy Glazed Carrots.  This was all served up on a bed of rice, of course.

Der Brucer liked the chicken, but didn't care for the carrots since he thought they were too spicy and, therefor, inedible.  At that moment, Marty, the big black doggie, carefully reached over onto der B's plate and snatched himself a carrot.

It's nice to know that someone likes my cooking!  (He went back for seconds!!!)

Well BK, I can't find my copy of HIGH TIME and fear it may have been recorded over by dark forces. But it is likely as you say, letterboxed titles, then pan and scan. We may never know now. :'(

The Mom phoned in the record haul and there was actually another bad option that I had not forseen: Lots of boring religious music. Don't get me wrong, I like some of that stuff, the weirder the better. There was a Louvin Brothers LP in there that should be nice. But Eddy Arnold and Tennesee Ernie Ford singing hymns isn't too exciting. Beyond that there were some Billy Vaughan LPs, Ames Brothers "Destination Moon" which is pretty good, Julie London, some old jazz, Hugh O'Brian-"TV's Wyatt Earp Sings", "April Love" Soundtrack, Margaret Whiting... Maybe 50 or so keepers.

I think Guy Haines should do Ray Peterson's "Tell Laura I Love Her". That would show 'em all!

Good Evening!

Well, I ran one errand... then another... then another... and so on... and so on...

After running my errands, I headed out to the West End to meet Steve for dinner at Maggiano's.  Well, since it was Maggiano's, we both ate very heartily.  We both should probably have eaten less there, and taken home more leftovers.  Steve decided to order a Full Size portion of pasta so that he would have leftovers to take home.  And, boy, will he have leftovers!  Two, three even four days worth!  Myself, I'll have a nice lunch tomorrow of Lasagna Bolognese.   -And, yes, we ordered dessert too - tiramisu.

-I hadn't been to Maggiano's in a while, and I had forgotten just how reasonable their prices are considering how generous their portions are.

After dinner, we headed back to his place to watch "American Idol".  The girl I worked with a few years ago made it to the final 24!

After watching "AI" Steve started Google-ing for the song they used during the closing montage - which turned out to be Freiheit's "Keeping The Dream Alive"...  Which leads to a question for BK and DRs:

The refrain for "Keeping the Dream Alive" sounds very much like another song - from the 70s we think - but the "orginal" is more uptempo.  We were thinking the refrain ends with the phrase, "we can make it all through the night".

???

Needless to say, we were both stumped.  We could hum the tune, but we couldn't find the right son after Google-ing all possible permutations of the lyrics we think are correct...

So... Just so that I can sleep tonight...  What is the song?!?!?!

It sort of goes like this:

Da da da da
Da da da da
Da da da make it all through the night....

???

There is no additional footage on those shows that spill over into the next hour. In fact, when the producers started getting irate mail about the episodes, they frankly admitted that they were not making the shows any longer; it was the greedy network (1) selling more commercial time (2) using the added minutes to promote more of its own product (3) trying the thwart viewers from leaving their network and going to a rival network's show at the top of the hour.

It's not called show BUSINESS for nothing!

Where are those West Coasters now?

Hmm... Is this the beginning of an HHW East Coast-West Coast feud? Like the rappers do?

Oh...

And the three mile run I took this morning has already started having it's "effect" on me.  I'm fine as long as I'm moving, but if I've been sitting down for a while and then start to get up... Whoa!

I just need to be sure to stretch before heading to bed tonight, drink some water, and take an Advil or two.

OK, had to record AMERICAN IDOL since it came on opposite ALIAS, and have just now watched it. I was only disappointed by one person who didn't make the final 24.

As for ALIAS, this may be the episode which Jennifer Garner submits for Emmy consideration. She has two and a half sensational confrontations with Sloane (Ron Rifkin) that crackle with hatred and emotion.

Well, JoseSPiano, I am somewhat of a pop music nut myself and I have been quite stumped by your query. When one doesn't hear the tune, it is difficult to place how the Da Da's should sound.
BUT, I did find one song that fits the bill, though it is not exactly uptempo and not from the 70s: Cyndi Lauper's "All Through the Night".

Sample lyric that fits your da da structure:
We have no past
We won’t reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night

Question for BK:

Is there any LP that you had that you were "responsible" for ruining?  -Leaving it in the heat, scratching it accidentally, etc.

I still remember putting my crate of LPs and 45s in the back of my parents' big ole yellow Ford Gran Torino - with a black interior!  We were moving from New London, CT down to Arlington, VA.  Well, I thought I had protected them, but, alas, a bunch of them warped from the heat.  -But they did make for some fun listening! ;)

Perhaps I shall watch Alias now.  I think the TIVO unit has made the adjustment for the extra length, as it hasn't started recording yet, as Lost is still on.

BY RODZINSKI! I THINK YOU'VE GOT IT!

Many, many thanks.  Now I can sleep tonight.  I just hope Steve is/can sleep tonight too!  -I think it's a bit late to call him right now - but if I see him pop on later.

-I checked the sound clips on Amazon. Bingo!

FYI - Here's the link to the Amazon listing for the soundtrack of "Say Anything".  The song, "Keeping the Dream Alive" is on it.  Maybe if you click on the audio sample, you can confirm that the refrains sound similar.  ;)

Wouldn't it be great if, just once on Lost, one of the survivors of the crash would turn to the camera and say "I don't have a backstory"?

JRand, loved the Julie London outtake which confirms to me what I always expected:that's she a right broad.

Jose, I used to travel with my records and record player when I was touring.  My car trunk was slightly dented and I drove through a bad rainstorm once to my destination.  I had a lot of wet album jackets and had to carefully dry off a few records.

LOL - I posted that link a few months ago.  I thought you had heard it already.  YUP Julie was okay.  I still listen to several of her albums.  I love her COLE PORTER album a lot!  And the cover art was always so sophisticated.....Julie.....in whatever key!

Jose-Most definitely a knock off of that couplet. Good call!

JRand-Bad news, I couldn't get Julie to run on my computer. Said I needed a Real Player update then when it searched for update, found nothing for me.

Oddly, the Troggs outtake did work, and that is some funny f-ing stuff.
