A professional diver named Lee.
Makes jumps which the crowd pays to see.
Once he plunged from an oak
Drawing cheers from the folk.
For his trunks remained hung in the tree.

My simple Christmas wish (Uh-oh: a David Friedman reference) would be for all DRs to follow those marching orrders from Mr. Orr and buy Our Wedding - The Musical.  Some of you wonderful people have already followed suit (apparently Jennifer thinks it's coming in a box).

You do realize I wasn't talking about you when I said, "For Christmas (Channukah for me) I really want a certain guy to send a certain box.  We shall see. "

I cannot tell if you were serious or joking. But I do call every package a box! :)

DR Ron: TT was worth every minute and second of my time as were the extra and extended scenes. Five people here were entranced , enthralled and involved throughout. No way does the movie ever drag. Fosca did not like the "thunder" sounds but otherwise seemed to enjoy the viewing. Magnus was a little worried that trees might be able to take their revenge. I think he may be more careful with his actions for a while!

More TT: My friend Carol was a little shocked when Aragorn's age was revealed but is I think quite willing to overlook the matter. I am not so lofty with my aspirations - Sam can do my gardening any time.

An aspiring young actor named Jed
Chose to go to his theatre by sled
He had not the chance of a ghost
When his sled hit a post
And his tights of purple were shed.

Ha!  Thanks much for that, TFO!

Just remembered the other limerick we came up with that night (referencing another summer stock comrade)...

There was a young fellow named Randall
Who found himself too hot to handle
For sadly his prick
Was mistook for a wick
As she said, "What an oddly-shaped candle."

It is eight o'clock and we are just starting our evening work.  No way I'm getting out of here before ten or eleven.  Then I'm gonna come in early tomorrow anyway and try to leave by five or five-thirty.  The only good news, working-in-the-evening-wise is that a Jumbo Pizza has just arrived.

What do I want for Christmas?  Plain and simple, simple and plain (a revised Baker's Wife reference):  Money (a Cabaret reference).  I have a couple of credit cards that I'm paying off and I just want that to go more quickly.  Otherwise, gift certificates for CD or DVD places...actual stores or on-line would be fine.

One year, when I was in college (I think), the only things I wanted for Christmas were underwear and a new watchband.  That's it.  I didn't really need anything else.  What did they get me?  No underwear and no watchband, that's for sure.  :(  What I did get was a Casio keyboard.  It was pretty cool.  It had about 70 keys and it had almost a hundred different "voices" but I didn't really need it at all.  Eventually I was happy that I had it, but not at first.  I had to buy my own underwear and watchband.

So money is always a good thing to get.  It's also the easiest.

Tonight, I have to house-sit my sister's house, so I'm off.  She, my niece and my sister's boyfriend (they've been dating for over 14 years!) drove down to Portland, Oregon to see Shania Twain in concert.  My sister has a cat and a dog and the dog is not feeling well.  So, I must doggy-sit as well as house-sit.

Now, only 8 more posts until 12,000.

DR Ron, I'm glad you got the new DTS releases. I have had AMERICAN BEAUTY in DTS for quite some time. I liked COCOON as a film, but for some reason have never had a desire to own it. I don't think I'd want to rewatch it very often. Can't explain why.

Did THE SOUND OF MUSIC ever arrive?

Matt didn't get cast in SHE LOVES ME so he won't be announcing it. I'm not that bummed out about it really, but it has strengthened my resolve to NEVER audition for that particular director ever again.

Matt H., 'tis Thursday night, no?  Were you not supposed to have heard about casting by now?  Tell us the news so we can either celebrate with you, or else start making voodoo dolls of the director!

Never mind! (oh, an Emily Litella reference)... Posts that cross in the night...

I watched WAIT UNTIL DARK earlier this evening before my network TV shows came on, and thought the DVD was certainly sharp (except for the softening filters used in Audrey's close-ups), but I was distressed by the dirty print used in this release. The opening few minutes were quite dirty. I don't think those imperfections are on the laserdisc (though, it's not nearly as sharp, of course). Ah, you pays yer money and you takes yer cherce.

DR Jed, I guess I should make a run to the director's house to get something that belongs to him. We'll have a voodoo doll to be proud of!

The Hanukah elf didn't grant my wish. It's probably because I left him milk and a burger and he's a Kosher elf. ...I'd rather be #20,000, anyway.

Dang it... I'd gotten pretty good at those milestone posts, having gotten #10,000 and I think #8,000 also.  Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for #12,004

Oh -- as for the TOTD (topic of the day) --
I am looking forward to spending several days on a trip with each of my kids. Sandra and I are making a trip to Pasadena and Las Vegas next week, and my DS (Dear Son) and I will take a trip together in the spring.

DR MattH (who will have read this here post tomorrow):  I never received "The Sound of Music" in DTS.  When I told the seller, he said only, "That's strange.  You got the other one and it was mailed the same day."

Mind you, I had not checked out his ratings.  When I did, I discovered 50 negative comments about him, all from folks who had not received DVDs they'd paid for.

At the time, I had also just paid for "Cocoon" from the same seller.  So I said nothing.

"Cocoon" arrived today.  Less than six days after I paid for it.

I really don't know what to think about the one (out of three) that I didn't get.  I will continue to negotiate it with him.

I'm sorry about the casting Nazi!  Have you ever considered becoming a director?  I relished directing and "breaking" the casting cycles other directors got themselves into.

I'm putting together my green bean casserole for tomorrow's pot luck.  Thus far, I've managed to avoid slicing the walnut-pumpkin cheesecake.  Just for fun, I'm also doing some BBQ meat balls for appetizers.

Call me impulsive.

Note to DR Ron: I could resist the green-bean casserole, but I'd be tearing into the meatballs and the cheesecake!
