I was really close on the trivia quiz. I thought about one of the correct answers then said to myself "Self, that can't be the right answer" so I didn't follow up.  Next time I'll trust my intuition a little more

Good mawnin', y'all.

Well, today I must shlep my computer down to the loft in the marina, where Chuck has a printer I can use to print out the new version of my play... then, I can take it over to Bruce tomorrow. Though it still resembles JEWISH THIGHS ON BROADWAY, it really is a new piece now. I'm so happy with the changes Mr. Kimmel suggested.

Tonight, just after midnight, is exactly a year since my mother died. She wanted a party - no tears, no grief, just laughs and drinks and jokes - but we couldn't do it last year. So tomorrow night the family is getting together for a trip to the cemetary, then dinner and carousing in our parents' honor - with drinks and jokes and laughs.

In the new Tough Guys box set, there is a great film called BULLETS OVER BALLOTS which I heartily endorse.

I'm up, I'm up, but tiiiiiired.  Good lists of performances, some of which I've seen and some of which I haven't.  In fact, I don't even know who Diane Franklin is, at least I don't think I do.  Is that babysitter movie on DVD?

I just want to give everyone the heads up.... I will do my best not to snap at anyone but I have a funny feeling it is going to be extremely trying. I do not know how long my dad has.  I appreciate the vibes and good words.

Actually last night I had a good cry and it let out a lot of emotions.

I had a fun incident at my register yesterday.

A mother, with toddler aged two-and-a-half to three, was patiently waiting for me to finish ringing up her purchases, enjoying the chance to catch her breath.  She had already told the lad he couldn't have any candy, but he was being insistant.  He plucked a bag of M&Ms from the display, and was holding it up to her, expecting her to relent.

Instead, he heard my low, basso voice coming from above, calmly saying "Noooo.  Put it back."  He looked up, his eyes wide and his mouth in a perfect "o" shape.  He silently turned around and put the bag of candy back in it's place.

The mother gave me a tired smile as she mouthed the words "Thank-you."  I smiled back, and said "I've got grandchildren," and let it go at that.

Her purchases bagged and paid for, she thanked me again and led her son to the exit.  He looked back at me, and I waved goodbye to him.  His eyes got big again, and he ran off to his mother.

I don't play God very often, but every once in a while I get away with it.

DR DakotaCelt: My prayers are with you and your family. It is going to be a very difficult time. Just remember your dad lived a long and happy life and any suffering now will soon be over.

DR PennyO, that is a lovely idea to honor your mother. To honor my mother on her birthday earlier this month, I gave the women's sewing group a gift certificate to the fabric store. My mom was always very happy making quilts with the sewing group.

This morning I am going to a funeral. My friend's mother was killed in a car accident last week.

You can't just staple a whole bunch of old Playbills together to make giant fans?

Or would that look too discotheque retro?
