Jane, the pictures were amazing.  I hope my mom got a glimpse of what you saw.  She returns from her Alaska trip tomorrow so I shall soon find out.

The choke down part is meant lovingly.  I think it hurts me more than it hurts him.

Btw, since we don't get TNT, I emailed the station that shows THE CLOSER here. Apparently they might show it this fall. But it's not for sure yet. Gosh i really hope they do. I love that show!

Hmm, I went in the other room to try out the new dogbone-shaped neck pillow I bought today.  It must work real well, 'cause I fell asleep!

Off to get a good night's sleep before my 3 (count 'em 3) dental procedures tomorrow :P

I also found tonight's THE CLOSER quite gripping.  A very well-written episode, as a crime drama.

SPOILER WARNING

But I got to wondering a bit later about the mindset of a TV writer who uses HIV so cavalierly as basically just another plot device.

If it is any consolation, it's not about who wins on that show as much as who gets the boot. That's always the more entertaining thing to me.

I know that's the fun part for me, but I had to give Ron a little grief....Spoiler alerts are still helpful.

A question for a future Ask Bk Day, unless anyone has thoughts now  :) :  Are there any topics that are so sensitive that they shouldn't be used by episodic TV writers as plot devices?

Callie has to take meds twice a day for the rest of her life. I am so lucky that she lets me hold her like a baby and opens her mouth and takes her meds. Which reminds me I need to give the beasts some attention,.

Well, the miniseries ELIZABETH I which was shown on HBO over this past season: it wasn't "tarted" up or overblown with CGI (though it was certainly used). British cast, done beautifully.

The point I'm making is that not every modern production done on historical themes is a hopeless mess. Some like TROY were pretty terrible. But the fact that an ELIZABETH I can be done and done so well proves it CAN still be done.

I wish they would do more of them.

I watched another episode of MEDIUM from Season 1 tonight. This was the episode that introduced Detective Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt) to the show. As I got into the show, I did remember the resolution, but I didn't remember the very adversarial relationship Lee and Allison had during their first case.

While waiting for THE CLOSER, I watched an episode of LAW & ORDER on TNT. My, they're very up-to-date. This was an episode from last season on NBC.

I also enjoyed THE CLOSER. I had the murderer pegged pretty early. but the later arrest was a big surprise.

The business with Brenda's personal life/problems was also very interesting.

Finished the evening with CSI: MIAMI concerning the death of a high school student on her way to the Bahamas on a class trip. She never made it.

Lee Scanlon is a wasted character as far as I'm concerned. The one episode this season where they got into his character was so preposterous. And his wrinkle-free open-collared shirts annoy me.
