The mail was very late in arriving (almost 4 p.m.) but MERMAID and X-MEN 3 did finally arrive, and also in today's post was the laserdisc of ENCHANTED APRIL which I won on Ebay last week. Hopefully I'll get to some of these things tomorrow.

Might have time tonight to slip in the first disc in the GREY'A ANATOMY first season set and wwatch a couple of episodes. I know I saw the pilot, but I'm not sure I saw the second episode.

The plane belonged to Cory Lidle of the Yankees, and they've confirmed he was a casualty (4, so far).

That is indeed tragic, DR Elmore. Thank you for alerting us to this. I was able to call my partner, and he was grateful that he knew to avoid that area when he picked up his young children from school nearby.

Oh, so sorry to read that. What a sad story. Thanks for the update, DR Elmore.

DR vixmom called to check on me; all she knew was that a plane had hit a building in NYC.  After being assured that I was okay, she asked me to send you all her regards.

Horrible! It appears to be an accident. But, just in case, according to NORAD Command, fighter planes are being scrambled over other major cities. What times we're living in!

It doesn't "appear" to be an accident, it IS an accident.  "Just in case"  Please.  I wouldn't be surprised if the NORAD report was just more hysterical misinformation put out there by the incredibly ignorant and ratings-hungry media.

So, yes, it's horrible that an accident happened.

You're welcome!  If you go to Google Maps and enter 524 East 72nd Street New York, NY  10021, you can see exactly where the building is located.

Two hours ago, they weren't so sure it was an accident.   They couldn't even be certain what floors were hit.  I remember when I first heard that a plane had hit the World Trade Center I thought that it must have been a small plane that was having difficulty.

I'm sure that as soon as this occurred today, all sorts of alarms went off in Manhattan, Albany, and DC.

I think that the FCC knew immediately that it was an accident - just my intuition, of course.  I think the media jumps to all the usual conclusions without actually checking first.   I think that will come to light at the end of the day.  Call me cynical, but I loathe the way the media works.

From what I understand, they're already saying the pilot was maydaying pre-crash, which means the FCC absolutely knew what was going on.

The last thing on the local news was that it was only two men in the plane, Cory Lidle and his instructor, and the plane was flying around the Statue of Liberty when it lost contact.

I have learned over the years to trust nothing any local or network news station says about anything.  Have we forgotten the hounding and persecution of that guard during the Olympics fracas?  Innocent as can be - the media went nuts on the guy, only they were wrong and they never ever apologized for basically ruining his life.

It is now being said that no one in the building was killed and/or injured (despite news reports earlier).

Someone on another board posted this about some loony media person: "One news reporter stated that someone *MIGHT* have jumped out of the plane into the East River before it crashed"

Diane McBain looked incredible, I thought.  Samantha Eggar looks swell, and so does Hayley Mills - the best of them all, however, is Leigh Taylor Young.

Worst - Paul Le Mat and Jack Wild.

The two floors of the synagouges wall contain the names of the six million Jews who perished during the holocaust. I cried a lot that day.

At the time I posted this, it wasn't known for sure. And the NORAD info I heard not from a reporter, but directly from one of the NORAD generals (or whatever his title) on CNN.

That's not to say the media isn't ratings-hungry and often wrong, but I try not to repeat - or post -  information I'm not fairly certain about.

Nice photographs, Mr. Shayne.  I wonder if we're getting near our limit?  Perhaps I'll have Mr. Bakalor do a purgearooni.

I completely forgot that I have to go to Mr. Grant Geissman's at six to do some vocal touchups to what we recorded the other day, and then to actually burn the tracks to CD - on just piano, the other piano/vocal.

Want to hear something disheartening?  I sent out a mass e-mail about the new book to all my "friends" - about 170, via Constant Contact.  Of the 170, only 98 actually opened the e-mail.  Of the 98 only 16 actually clicked through to the book website.  Of the 16 who clicked through exactly 0 purchased the book and I'm sad to say that includes a few dear readers.  Which begs the Ask BK Day question: How come?

I've asked the same question re Rewind, which was not purchased by several dear readers - since so many had wanted me to tell that story for so long, I was rather taken aback by it.  Again: How come?  The book ended up doing fine, but I'm just honestly curious, especially why those who have enjoyed previous books (especially the Kritzer tomes) wouldn't want to see the most current.  Looking forward to replies.
