Had only a couple of hours this afternoon after getting in from a late lunch, but did manage to watch three things.

I started with last night's OLD CHRISTINE. It was another very funny episode with guest star Andy Richter who has a good comic chemistry with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. He should pop up a lot more often.

Next up was CSI: MIAMI which had a weird episode of curses and crimes in a posh neighborhood.

DR MBarnum, Matt Battaglia was a principal guest star. Looked good as ever but he may have lost a little weight since the last time I saw him on a show.

Another great musical moment from Looney Tunes was Porky Pig as Friar Tuck in the Daffy Duck Robin Hood, singing "Barbara Allen".

The other night I was rehearsing a play for a staged reading and one of the actors used a voice that reminded me of Odie Cologne.

I saved JUSTICE to watch tonight during the 8 p.m. hour since there is nothing on any network that I'm interested in.

CBS is running an all-rerun night tonight in light of the World SEries. NBC is rerunning both LAW & ORDER shows tonight though FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is new.

At least BOSTON LEGAL and VERONICA MARS have new episodes, and, of course, nip/tuck which I'll watch at 10 and record BOSTON LEGAL for tomorrow.

Here's another post in the "lots of posts" vein...this time about lunches (or food):

I had trout w/steamed veggies and rice as my main course today. It was quite tasty. The soup was chicken rice and, as usual, homemade in the kitchen of this little restaurant nearby.

I love my Mom and we get along fine, it's just that parent thing where they don't trust you to make wise decisions. But now I find her asking my advice more often, when she's about to make a major purchase, etc.

I think it drove her a little crazy not to be involved in the planning of our wedding, but I just told her to show up and have a good time...and she did!

I am now in the midst of painting the new house. She was critical of my colors, (they weren't all beige) but I just said "Mom, it's my house...my colors". I think she'll like it when she sees the finished project.

Huckleberry was my favorite when I was a tiny tot @5-6. By 7 I loved Top Cat. Mentioning Bob Clampett reminded me of Beany and Cecil, a favorite when I was about 8 or 9 and starting to understand puns. They would travel to places like (instead of Bikini Atoll) No Bikini Atoll. It took me a while to figure some of these out, especialy since I had never heard of Bikini Atoll, but it was the same kind of humor I grew to love with Rocky and Bullwinkle. Last night's ratings tidbits:

HEROES was up 10% from last week's strong numbers and now ranks as the top new show in the age 18-49 ratings.

STUDIO 60 lost almost 40% of its lead-in from HEROES. I hate to say this since I enjoy the show, but its days are numbered. Again, I think NBC will let the 13 ordered episodes play out, but I can't see them renewing this past those original 13 episodes. It just hasn't caught on in a mass way, though it did end up with about 1.5 million more viewers than ABC's WHAT ABOUT BRIAN which beat it last week.

THE CLASS dropped again from its lead-in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. THough CBS ordered 4 more scripts for the show, I'm thinking it may read them and decide the direction of the show is hopeless and let THE KING OF QUEENS come back to the slot at midseason.

This morning, my DVR recorded ABBOTT AND COSTELLO IN HOLLYWOOD of TCM, one of the few MGM movies they made on loan-out during their Universal star years.

I have never seen this movie (nor their RIO RITA with Kathryn Grayson), but since there isn't that much for me to record tonight, I should have plenty of time tomorrow to finally get to see this.

I don't hate to say this, but my "Astaire-Rogers" box set has arrived. It's b-e-a-u-t-e-o-u-s.

It's exactly the box they'd ship if you bought all 10 titles in one 12-disc set...only there are the 5 new titles, the Partners in Rhythm DVD and a CD of songs direct from Astaire-Rogers soundtracks, and keepcases for the original issue, complete with artwork.

There are quite a few extras included, such as b/w photos, campaign book reproduction for "Shall We Dance", etc.
