And your ears are probably thanking you even now!

And our eyes and noses and throats, because those who went told us the next morning about how smoky the place was.

Nothing is like going to a bar and singing along to Diana Ross singing "I'm Coming Out."

Not even going to a bar and singing along to Helen Reddy singing "I Am Woman."

Not that I've ever tired either.   ::)

On the way back from Lake George, my co-worker introduced me to the most amazing kd lang CD- it's called hymns of the 49th parallel and she covers a lot of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen tunes.  And the song The Valley by Jane Siberry is my new favorite.

Thanks for the recommendation TPunk. I really like kd lang, I'll have to check it out

I think Skip is trying to avoid Liza and her subtlety.  He just went out to buy stuff to make cookies.

TCB, how could the ham in you let this photo op lose you?  I'm happy for the achievement, but didn't those acting lessons from Aeschylus teach you anything?

You forgot, elmore, that I was in the class behind you.  Aeschylus had already retired.  I had Euripides for Drama 101.

There was just an ad on NBC with a very catchy line, but I can't quite remember it - something about saving a cheerleader.

I keep forgetting I'm older than you!  And prettier.

Casting agents are calling for TCB based on that photo.

First up, the people doing the musical of A FACE IN THE CROWD.  He'll be doing that great number "Mein Hair."

Sherlock’s little brother, the one who visited us, is very sick.  They don’t know why, possibly due to something toxic and it just keeps getting worse.  We are very sad here & just keep cuddling our sweet boy.

Since no one has convinced us it isn’t a vaccinated induced problem we will be visiting the vet Monday & discussing a different approach to Sherlock’s last round of vaccinations.  At the least we will give the parvo & distemper separately.

Anything's better than that "Sit on a happy face" he used to do.

I'm watching an excruciatingly bad film called The Chairman, which is not about Frank Sinatra.

Hi Jane!
No, I've never been to Ashland Cabaret Theater. I'm afraid right now I have to stay close to home in L.A. because of my father. Do they have a website?

Today, I went to the annual WFMU Record Fair. Fun, but very crowded. One of the media rooms had a documentary about two guys who train Thai elephants to play music.

I didn't overdo it this year. The most interesting thing I found was a Kenward Elmslie LP called "The Palais Bimbo Lounge Show" which is quite bizarre and came out on Ben Bagley's Painted Smiles label.

Hey All!
This from the Cabaret West newsletter that I just finished...

Michael Feinstein is producing a new album with Liza Minnelli to celebrate Liza's godmother, Kay Thompson. It will consist of Kay's songs (most of which she wrote) and those from her nightclub act with the four Williams Brothers (including Andy). Liza will sing Kay's part and the guys' parts will be sung by Billy Stritch, Jim Caruso and Johnny Rodgers.

Then I met the TPunk for a movie, the documentary: JONESTOWN: The Story of The People's Temple. Not exactly a pick-me-up, but very interesting. I've had a fascination with this event for a few years now, and the fact is, the more you learn about it, the more questions you have. This documentary does boast some incredible footage.
