Today will be long.

What was originally going to be a six-hour workday has been extended to eight (with a lunch break). Then, der B has us scheduled to dash up to Dover for some shopping.

He will then have us dashing back home, so that he can watch television all evening.

I don't have any shows that interest me on Tuesday. So I may try catching up on our DVD stack, which seems to keep growing and growing and...

Woody! Good morning to you. And good morning, all. I thought I wouldbe hearing from our E&T DR Jose yesterday, but I never did. I'm not certain now that he came up from DC.

I'm staying busy with The Brain and today I'll try to finish up (hopefully) two charts. Tonight I have the monthly music librarian dinner, which I look forward to because I've missed every one since May because of Ohio visits and work commitments. I have to leave the group around 7:45 and pay a visit to Toyland. Because of everyone's conflicts, we're now meeting after 6:30 every night. Oy! At least I'm avoiding most of the rush hour situation.

Hate to post and run, but such things are necessary from time to time. I'll have to think about films that make me squirm. Marathon Man and the dental drill comes to mind, in spite of what I do for a living, I hate to watch violence.

Not exactly the TOD but: In terms of skin crawling, did someone already mention the brain-eating scene from HANNIBAL? Not a bad movie otherwise, though.

Ditto the manual removal of the heart in that Indiana Jones sequel.

Very nice write up about THE FOUNTAINHEAD, DR RLP. It is one of my favorites. How are the extras? I haven't purchased the DVD yet.

It was a fantastically popular book - and Ayn Rand sold the movie rights to Warner Bros (Clark Gable was furious that MGM passed on it) for $50,000. She went out and bought a mink coat and she and her husband Frank O'Conner bought a small ranch with a nice Richard Neutra house on it.

Ayn wrote the screenplay and went through hell getting it done her way. Every actress from Barbara Stanwyck to Joan Crawford to Veronica Lake thought herself perfect for the leading role.

Cooper & Neal eventually played them. Ayn was furious at the final cut of the film that chopped out what she considered the MOST important line - the line that gave meaning to the film....Cooper's speech in the courtroom was to have included: "I wished to come here to say that I am a man who does not exist for others....."

Ayn put on her mink coat argued uselessly with producer Henry Blanke - and then said she wouldn't allow any more of her books to be produced by Hollywood.

I've gone to the market, and the street is alive with distraction: there's a crane or something across from my apartment and they're filming something on Amsterdam Avenue: production trucks up and down several blocks. Usually it's LAW & ORDER.

Cilla - Oh, spoo and double spoo. I just googled "To Stir With Love" and it turns out there was a SIMPSONS episode with that title, and also a couple of newspaper articles that seem to be about diet. Not that there's any reason you can't use it for the cookbook if you still want to. But i should have known it was too good for me to have been the first to think of it.

TOD : When I was 18 or 19 one of the local movie theatres, where one of my friends worked as the ticket seller, changed from "legit" to XXX...
some of us girls decided it would be fun to go and see one of the double features... I only lasted about 15 minutes into the first show and ended up sitting in the wine and cheese cafe (it WAS the 70's) next door until the rest of the gang came out.
