Friday evening greetings!  For a 4-day work week, this one was pretty grueling and I'm so-o-o-o-o ready for my 3-day weekend.  Especially since this one has no commitments - stuff to do, yes, but I can do it on my own timetable.

DR Elmore - thanks for the Mozart info.  This afternoon I discovered

Reber Mozart Hearts

to order from Vermont Country Store.  Since I'm hosting the meeting when we'll discuss Mozart's Women on Feb. 15, I think they'll make a nice addition to my menu for refreshments.

Ginny-I wanted some until I read HAZELNUTS.  They look beautiful :)

Hi all..... Just thought I'd pop my weary head in here for a minute and say "hello."  Dear Larry, I'm glad the procedure seemed to go well for your Dad.

Hi DR Laura..... did you see the pretty peacock pic from earlier today?  I thought of all of your fabulous pictures when I saw that one.

And dear Esteemed and lovely BK -- nosh on a little something tasty, watch something fun or interesting, and let the less than great parts of the day drain away.

I'm sorry you had a "yucky drek" quotient as part of your day today.  I was annoyed by something at a store the other day, and out of a spur of the moment impulse, I just looked at the clerk and said "what is it, fish?"  Honest !  And you know what.... it kind of diffused the anger or tension I was feeling.

The clerk looked at me like she didn't know whether to shit or go blind, but I really didn't  care.  I felt better and lighter.

It was more rewarding than vomiting on the ground at that point. :)

I've spent the last couple of hours listening to CDs.

Actually, one CD in particular which has stunned me.

I love David Hobson's classical work.

But his "Cinema Paradiso" is a-MAZ-ing.

I've played a few of the tracks multiple times.  "The Rose" has never been as beautifully rendered, IMO.

Whenever a musical performance transcends my expectation, I find myself enriched.  This is a transcendent album.

Thanks, Tommy!

Time now for "Ghost Whisperer", after which I shall enjoy "Psych".

Thanks, Elmo, for steering me WAY CLEAR of "Monk."  The thought of it instills a fear of hives.

Kathy Griffin was funny. I was not really a fan prior to this evening, but she really gets the crowd going. Sold out Carnegie Hall. She really puts herself on the line naming names, talking trash about people. It's not like she picks on innocent folks, so it works pretty well.

I think I'm going to see the movie The Queen tomorrow.  I have to work at the office awhile, but I'd like to catch a matinee before we get our next snow storm tomorrow night

...I'm back from Kristin Chenoweth's concert at The Met.  A thoroughly enjoyable evening for many, many reasons.

I guess the best way to sum it up for me would be as follows:
-The concert made you glad to be in love.
-The concert made you want to be in love if you weren't.
-And if you're not currently in love with someone special right now, that's OK too.

Details to follow...

I am stunned!  Other than The Supremes, my other favorite group from the Sixties was the Mamas & the Papas.  And Papa Denny was my favorite of the four.  His soaring voice was the heart of their music.  Someone once called his voice "angelic" (which I'm sure he hated), but it is a perfect description.

You are welcome indeed!  Bad writing, ridiculous plot verging on the homoerotic with Monk behaving like a lovelorn maiden.  Utter twaddle.

I began this evening by watching THE INCREDIBLES. I really love this film and enjoy revisiting it every six months or so. Made me laugh out loud several times even though I've seen it very often. The animation is wonderful, and it's a super transfer.

And so untrue to the character of MONK that he wouldn't be able to see through the guy, if not at first then certainly later. But he allowed the guy to get the gun out of his hands even after the guy had shown his true colors. Oh, what a disappointment!

When the Captain is able to figure out the solution to the mystery before Monk, there is something terribly wrong with the episode.

I have a real problem with MONK as well. Didn't see this episode, but sometimes they stretch the comedy way too far, and often wreck some decent plots.
