I've been off in the family room at the other end of the house watching some of my favorite programming, C-Span2's:

Book TV

Just heard Steven Johnson, speaking last November at the Columbia University Bookstore about his latest book The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic-and How it Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World.  Next up, at 9pm EST:  Joel Fleishman, author of The Foundation: A Great American Secret - How Private Wealth is Changing the World.  Work-related, yes, but one of my favorite things to do is to listen to authors talk about, and read from, their books.

I must now be on my way to sup and opening night, after which I shall return.  Keep the home fries burning until my returning.

Will we ever get to page eight?

Jane - the plot of CHILDREN OF MEN vaguely reminds me of the TV movie THE LAST CHILD, where no family was allowed to have more than one child.  Is it possible that's what you're thinking of?

That sounds familiar.  Thank you.  I’m pretty sure it was the TV movie I remember and not the P.D. James novel the book is based on.  Or maybe it is a combination of both. :-\

DR MBARNUM - it was indeed DR ELMORE who brought BALLET RUSSES to our attention.  I purchased it and find it VERY entertaining.

NOW - the doggie pictures are lovely....a good time was had by all canines, I am sure.  However, I am intrigued by the sneakers in the punch bowl?  Is it an Oregon religious rite or ritual?

The post man was very nice today and left me two Arabic pop CDs, 1 Arabic music video DVD (which is playing right now), and a vhs with two episodes from an obscure old TV series called JOHNNY MIDNIGHT....I know little about the show other then several of my interviewees have evidently guest starred on it during it's one season run.

And speaking of Wyoming rites....Mark, James, Digger, Herbie and Fat Cat are all movie to Wyoming next month  :'(

I am really going to miss them very, very much. Mark moved to Oregon 6 years ago and we have been best friends ever since (well, we dated for 6 months then became best friends afterwards).

Mark taught me that I can even be friends with a conservative Republican...and Mark learned that liberals are human too. LOL!

I'm assuming that that "typical" "Quel fromage!" English expression means "Quel dommage!" (What a pity!) in French! I'm assuming!

Yes.....we were once in a play that had a Mexican character speaking VERY bad French....and one of the expressions she used was "Quel frommage."  I was the only one who ever laughed during rehearsal.  She finally asked me why....so I told her....then EVERYONE laughed.  But I sometimes say it myself just for old times' sake.

Of course it is! I had temporary insanity. I meant to type THE 400 BLOWS. Just goes to show what happens when your mind is on something else.

Yeah.  If I was typing THE 400 BLOWS, my mind would be on something else.

If it is very bad, we will not open the store.  Bad weather & the Colts game would in all likelihood equal - very few customers.

I loved the doggie pictures, DR MBarnum, but Mark and James are also fine male specimens themselves!

There were dogs in those pictures?

The only thing I can say about French films is that most of them are better than most Ingmar Bergman's films.

The recipe that der B brought with him to the store had a few problems.

The taters (chips) came out sorta OK.

The fish itself was very good.

The batter, based on beer and rice flour, was...

 :P

I need to go back to the drawing board.  This is clearly something he wants in the repetoire, but not in it's current incarnation.

Alton Brown, help me!!!

In case I forgot to mention it, I did end up taking the role in DIARY OF ANNE FRANK.  We are doing the 1987 revised version of the play.  That means requiring the cast to stay on stage throughout the Intermission; and that, also, requires Anne to talk about having her first period and about wanting to touch her best friend's breasts.  I am not sure that either change increases the effectiveness of a play that is already so moving.

Good evening!

A long day, but a good day...

The auditions went very well, and we had a pretty good turnout.  And since these were auditions for an upcoming regional production of "Jerry Springer: The Opera", I got to play some, how shall we say, very interesting songs.  Well, I got to listen to some very "interesting" lyrics.  I believe my favorite of the day had to be:

Dip me in chocolate and feed me to the lesbians

;D

And I get to do it all again tomorrow!

Alas, starting at 9:00am again.  -Who auditions at 9:00am on a Sunday?  Who can actually have a good audition at 9:00am on a Sunday?!?!?!?
