And how come DR Miss Karen does not have an avatar?

-I'm sure DR Cason might have a pic or two she could use.  ;)

DR Sandra. I have been drinking lots of diet cherry Coke lately.  Does it count, even though it's diet?

Ta-dah! der Brucer did it!  Flipped us off -- I mean over -- to page 8!  I'm out of here -- did my part.  But I'll return later to check if we're on a record-setting pace. I love a challenge!

Yes, and my mother asked about some items I may have to go back and check on.  The one thing I really wish I had gotten is a really good set of knives.  What do you recommend?

I've only had Diet Cherry Coke once when that was what the machine gave me. I didn't like it so much, but if you do, we'll count it.

Thanks! I have always remembered that the first thing you asked when I started posting is if I drink Cherry Coke, LOL

In other, sadder news... I just received word informing me that one of the young actresses who was in the production of Cabaret I worked on last fall passed away last week, apparently from meningitis.  She was in her mid-20s.  I had just seen her a few weeks ago heading to an audition...  Too soon.  Much too soon.

Mmmm Tuna Glop!  I know I have that recipe somewhere

There are as many variants on Tuna Glop as there are Cason puns.

They all seem to share tuna, peas and every 60's housewife's favorite - Cream of Mushroom Soup.

SInce I can not abide hot tuna and Woody hates prefers not to eat peas, this dish will not likely make an appearance hereabouts.

I loved the flexibility offered by this recipe comment:

This is a recipe with a great deal of room for variation. All the ingredients can be substituted...

Yes, and my mother asked about some items I may have to go back and check on.  The one thing I really wish I had gotten is a really good set of knives.  What do you recommend?

All you really need in a 8 or 10 inch chef's knife, or you can go the Santoku route - with or without the grantons (the ones with a scalloped edge) - and a good paring knife.  Knife sets will usually contain a couple of knives you will never use, so... However, if a set of knives ends up costing the price of one good chef's knife... Well...

Since you have a Rachel Ray pan, she has a two-knife set that is pretty good.

Otherwise, buy what feels good to you.  If you can take the knife out of the package and check the feel and weight in your hand that would be ideal.  Wusthof and Henckels are traditional and trustworthy brands.

*And knife blocks tend to harbor moisture and bacteria - both of which would be detrimental the knives and you.  See if they have any knife safes - I LOVE mine! - or some drawer rack, or one of the magnetic strips (if you don't mind "hanging" your knives out in the open.

Thanks for the advice. I've always wondered about the knife blocks. Plus they take up a lot of space.

Looker, which I haven't seen since 1981, is quite interesting in certain ways.  It's as bad as it always was, but it was very cutting edge in terms of what it was saying, and, in fact, a lot of it has come to pass - I believe (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that Looker is the first time the words Computer Generated Imagery (CGI, in Internet lingo) was ever used in a mainstream film - this was a year before the release of Tron.

Here's a pic of the type of knife safe I use:

They come in 4", 6", 8" and 10" sizes.  They make it easy to store knives safely in a drawer, and they also make it easier to travel with your knives too.  I blame Alton Brown for turning me on to them.  -Williams-Sonoma usually has them.

That's really cool, Jose. I store all my knives in one drawer and that's all I put in that drawer, but this would protect the blade. Cool

I didn't buy any of the knife sets because they all included steak knives and other knives I really didn't need. I may just forget that right now.
