My dad was bigtime into ocean fishing.  He belonged to a fishing club that ran out of his favorite neighborhood tavern--Zibby's Anglers (Zibby's being the name of the bar.)

His typical catch was flounder, which was one of our dinnertime staples.  At least once a week, flounder--floured and fried.  I kind of grew tired of it and no longer eat as much flounder.  But once in a while I do get a hankering for it.

Flounder is also one of the catches that oceanologists say have been so over-fished that they are likely to disappear in the next twenty-five years.  So eat your fill now.

Good Morning!

Well, I shall be errant and truant for most of the day since I shall be heading down 95 in an hour or so (I hope) for the next stage of "The Big Move To NYC".  So...

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Laters...

Safe travel, DR Jose!

Good morning!

It's COLD here. It got down to 22 last night, and not supposed to leave the low 40s today, so very, very uncomfortable outside (especially when we had 60s for a couple of days last week).

DR Jennifer, we'll just have to agree to disagree about Ashley A. I found her hopeless in every regard. As I said last night, none of the Sandys blew me out of the water. The ones with the right look weren't strong singers, and the better singers didn't seem to have a strong stage presence.

I think finding a Danny is going to be an easier job.

I'm not much of a fish eater either, but I'll admit I'm not a gourmet. If I have to eat fish, I'd just as soon have the beer battered fried fish at Captain D's as any fried fish out there.

I do love shrimp and scallops, however.

Last night, I put the movie ALEXANDER back in the DVD player. I didn't have an upconverting DVD player when I first got this movie, and I wanted to see what it looked like scaled up to near HD quality. What a magnificent transfer! Yes, the film has problems (though I still find it entertaining, and the view of the society with men loving men and women is quite bold and more than likely cost the film some money; Oliver Stone certainly believes it did.)

I have some Blu-ray discs coming in the mail this week, but until they arrive I'll continue to enjoy revisiting this film.

I also have COLD CASE and EXTRAS recorded from last night to watch today.

Tonight, we do have new episodes of HEROES, '24,' and STUDIO 60. Looks like the CBS line-up is all reruns tonight.

Yes, Alix Tilton's character in Rock Around the Clock (and most of her lines) were purloined by several women in these movies including Mari Blanchard in Don't Knock the Twist and Maura McGiveny in Twist Around the Clock.

But Alix and her butch hairstyle did it best!

Hmmmm, fish is a hard one cause I love it unless it takes, well, fishy.  I'm not trying to be coy.  The right fish and the right chef, it's heavenly -- but otherwise yuck -- so I really debate whether to order it or not each time.

I like shell fish best -- popcorn shrimp, crab salad or crab cakes -- and of course, lobster with lots of butter.  The butter is the key, so I guess it's not so much the lobster but that butter!   Instead of killing that poor little critter, I really should just order the little vat of butter and I'd be just as happy...

Tuna glop is a favorite in these here parts.

And I am not a fish corny-sewer, so it's fish sticks and Mrs Paul's filets for me...with curly fries.

Speaking of fish in shells, I'll be pulling back into mine and resorting back to my reclusive behavior here at HHW. We're heading out to LA to see the dress rehearsal of the SD 1-Acts at LACC -- Cason's directorial debut.  We can't make the SD 1-Act Festival this weekend since I have my orientation for my Master program I'm starting -- but we so wanted to see his play, that the dress is the compromise.  So do your vibe thing for Case and all the student directors, casts and crews

So troops, I won't be available to post like the dickens (ah, another one of those sayings that make you think what does "like the dickens"  mean .. or is it Dickens as in people who did something in a craze?...) on my travels.  So make like the Dickens family and post to beat the band (and what does that mean?).

The sun came out for a moment and I think my coffee is starting to kick in. Luckily it's a slow day here, I don't have much I HAVE to do.  Tomorrow I get up bright and early and drive to the lake.  I have a meeting for work up there.  It will be nice to spend a day away from here.

Well, Miss Karen, since you asked, I went to Google and my suspicions were correct about dickens and dickin: another word for the devil.  It means "like the devil."

Yes Elmo... YOU .... the pixie-rogue of all times!!

I have rarely experienced being able to watch so much fun and joy in a person's face, as I did sitting with you at "The Brain" and watching you be so delighted at what all was going on in the show and the band.  Don't ever lose that enthusiasm for what you do and what you create.

DR Jrand.... If you like lobster, but don't want all of the work of taking one apart, then a good "Lobster Roll" is fabulous!  All of the work is already done, but they are pure and simple and delicious if they are made correctly.
