I finished the afternoon with MOVE OVER, DARLING. I got about 70 minutes in (maybe a little more) where Doris introduces James Garner to her "Adam," Don Knotts. Of course, Garner has already seen Chuck Connors and knows Knotts is a fake. Should be able to finish it and maybe watch some of the featurettes before BONES comes on tonight.

Yesterday, Tomovoz brought up Brenda Northwest:

She has her own Website: BearsGallery

They show pix of her three art books:

I knew the answer to THE BOYS IN THE BAND question and was too late getting here. Darn!  :(
Well, I gave you time - I had to find a hardcopy of the play and find the damn quote!

My Godson, Quinn, and his new helper dog, Kona, from the "coffee litter"! (Her sisters are Mocha and Latte.)

Quinn looks like a great kid. You can't help but smile when you see the joy in his face.

Speaking of Eva Marie Saint, I did an imdb look-up and was amazed at how much work she's gotten in recent years. I often think how there aren't many good roles for the over-50 crowd, but she's found a lot of work. And good for her, too!

The sound clips for The Brain have been fixed (she imported them incorrectly) - you may have to empty your cache, but now no one should sound like they have a lisp when they're singing.  There will also be more photos up later today.  And you can now also see the lyrics as well as download them.

Now if only we had some orders...

I just ordered both CDs!  BK, which e-mail do we use for requests for autographed copies?  Is it too late to get autographed copies??

Ok, confession and feel stupid time.  I attempted to catch up on spreading holiday cheer by sending the adobe files of the recipes in my cookbook to several people who I had addresses for and who I thought may enjoy them. (If it's clear you don't ever cook...I didn't send you one)

If you didn't get one, don't feel bad. It turns out I must not have done something right with the software on that computer because many, but not all, of the disks were blank!  I have discovered the adobe files aren't that big and can be emailed.

SO, if you got a blank CD and want the files let me know. If you didn't get a CD and want the files, let me know.  I'm happy to share them via email.

Which issue was the subject of one the few social protests in which I participated in the 50s. The only movie theatre in Annapolis was requiring our only Black classmate to sit in the balcony - the earlier Annapolic classes, who also had a few tokens, did not challenge the policy - we did - and won. (A threat of a boycott by an establishment's main clientele is very potent.)

The other day when we were discussing breakfast foods, I mentioned my blueberry crepes.  They sound a lot like blintzes - a thin pancake filled with a cream cheese/sour cream mixture, rolled up, baked, then topped with blueberry syrup laced with Curacao.

While similar, it needs the second cheese to taste like a blintz.

Me! Me!  My computer is totally puzzled by the disk.  I just tried it.

I do appreciate the thought.

And a blini needs sourcream and caviar to not taste like a buckwheat pancake :D

Edi - If the charity wants something truly unusual to auction off, we had a nice response once when we gave away as a grand prize a LAST STARFIGHTER giveaway package, which consisted of:  the collectors' edition 3-part Marvel comics series; the collectors' edition Last Starfighter movie DVD; the Kritzerland CD of the musical; the program for the musical's world premiere in NYC; and (especially rare) the limited edition jumbo poster from the world premiere of the musical.

Maybe not worth much unless the musical some day becomes a hit somewhere, but it's certainly unusual.  :)

I want to know much, much more about this working with him.

Well, there isn't much to tell.  I was the librarian/music supervisor for Michael Tilson Thomas on the Emmy winning Gershwin celebration at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Johnny, because of his Fred Astaire arrangements from the 1930s, was a guest star.  He conducted a set of his Astaire Gershwin arrangements with Maureen McGovern, Christopher Walken and others.  He was grumpy, could be very curt with fools, and he liked me because I was at rehearsals to work and I had a ton to do.  After a couple of days, he became very friendly and I had a great time with him, asking questions about his career and his family.  He had been Richard Rodgers' musical director for BY JUPITER. which led to Hollywood, he had done Broadway, radio, and recordings with his band in the 1930s, and he knew everyone.  I do remember telling him I thought RAINTREE COUNTY was a weird film and he agreed.  We talked about how expensive the album was, which amazed him, and how hard it was to find.  I don't remember talking about other films, I was mostly interested in his Broadway career.

I don't remember much more from 20 years ago, except that he liked me and was very kind.  I loved him dearly.  He was sort of the curmudgeonly grandfather with me. When I went backstage after the performance, he told me we'd be working again, which thrilled me no end.  The next year his health rapidly declined and he was dead not long after.  Cancer, I recall.  I still listen to those arrangements for Astaire and marvel at how wonderful they are.

Is this near?

The Salal Cafe

Three forks: Good

- Location: 634 Water St., Port Townsend, 360-385-6532.

- Food: Good. Breakfast choices include eggs, burritos and blintzes. Lunch offerings include sandwiches and homemade pastas. Plenty for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.

der Brucer

Sadly, that's a good couple of hours away...much too far for just a blintz.  Thanks for trying, though! :D

Der Brucer - For the record, I've never been to either the Continental Baths or the Anvil.  Even not for the record, actually. :(   And I'm sorry never to have experienced the Continental Baths - i hear it was a wonderful place, even besides its intended purpose.
