Saturday morning greetings!

Happiest of birthdays to DR Edisaurus - you're the second person I've known to honor her mother on her birthday.  It's a nice idea.

My mom just called and sang her traditional "Happy Birthday"--- out of tune with her Casio, which plays a rhythm that has nothing to do with the song.

This is the tradition she adopted after the originator, my grandmother, got too old to serenade me on her ukelele. (She would call my house, play her uke and hang up without saying a word!)

I was born in Marion, Ohio, at the county jail. (Well, it wasn't a jail when I was born, or so my mother tells me...)

This morning I'm having my hair cut and doing some other errands.  This evening, DH Richard and I are going to Cincinnati's Music Hall for the Cincinnati Pops.  The guest performers tonight are the US Navy Sea Chanters, Aerialist Alexander Streltsov, and the Cincinnati Fencing Academy.  The music will be from nautical films.

Hmmm born the day after Groundhog's Day. Were you waiting for a signal that winter was almost over and it was ok to pop out? ;)

No, but I am going to adopt that idea from now on! Thanks for the greetings, DR Cillaliz!

Good morning!

The gray has left us, and it's a spectacular day outside. No, not especially warm, but it's beautifully blue and brisk outside. Such a nice change from the bleak winter of a few days ago.

And speaking of DR Edi, I was thrilled and delighted to read that the second season of THE CLOSER comes out on DVD on May 29th! Can't wait to get my hands on this second season.

LOL ~ great BD story!  The perfect blend of wacky, charming, and endearing (the kind of people I adore). How can anyone top their birthday greetings?  But Happy Birthday to you anyway!

I'm really at a loss as to what I'll be watching today and tomorrow. Having NO interest at all in the Super Bowl, I'll have to find something lengthy to occupy myself with during the afternoon and evening hours since the other networks lay down and play dead as far as programming against the Super Bowl. (HBO may be showing new episodes of ROME and EXTRAS; I can't remember.)

I think the most recent remake of KING KONG comes on HBO-HD tonight, and if it's a late showing , I'll record it to watch tomorrow afternoon since it's three hours long. In the evening, I'll probably watch the 1925 version of BEN-HUR which I've been looking to watch when I had an entire evening free.

As for today, I guess I'll fall back on MASH which has been off the shelf waiting for a week or so. If I get some Blu-rays in the mail today, they will be on tonight's docket.

I also still have SUPERNATURAL and 30 ROC from Thursday that I haven't gotten to yet as well as LAW & ORDER from last night.

We hada quite wonderful birthday yesterday ending with treats from Marks & Spencer, a lovely and delicious fruit cake covered in marzipan and royal frosting AND catepillar mini-rolls. Yummm

The topper was getting two tickets for Follies on Thursday evening.

Thanks FJL!!!

Thank you,. DR der Brucer, for providing me with the name of the Brooke Shields-looking actress on last night's MONK. The minute I saw her name - Heather Tom - I knew immediately that's who it was.

She was an Emmy-winning regular on ONE LIFE TO LIVE for years, and she was ceremoniously dumped a few weeks ago from the cast of that soap. I hope she can find a rewarding regular role on a series for next season.

My favorite one act is THE ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE. Absolutely hilarious and for all of us who have done stage acting in our lives, it's a play that hits VERY close to home in dreams many of us have likely had.

I also like Tennessee Williams' SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER and THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED. And Albee's THE ZOO STORY is very haunting.

Can't stay long.  I've entered the Master of Arts program at Prescott College and this is my orientation weekend, so the day is not mine, but I had to get my HHW fix -- it's been too long.  Speaking of wacky, glad to see you're all still in rare form.  Wish I could stay and play, but student duties call.

TOD

I like this Property Is Condemned by Tennessee Williams. It was the very first play I ever directed. I had cast in the the female role an African American actress because she was the best one who auditioned. The play took on a different like as the play took place in the Southern US and a friendship between a white boy and black girl was not exactly smiled upon when the play was first written.

Happy happy birthday to Dear Reader Edi/Amy.

I hope your partner/significant other/boyfriend etc will sing this song to you on your special day.

Once in love with Amy, always in love with Amy
Ever and ever fascinated by her, sets your heart afire to stay.
Once you're kissed by Amy, tear up your list it's Amy
Ply her with bonbons, poetry, and flowers, moon a million hours away.
You might be quite the fickle-hearted rover so carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over and just quits cold.
But once in love with Amy, always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you'll romance her, trouble is the answer will be
That Amy'd rather stay in love with me.
(instrumental), always in love with Amy
Ever and ever fascinated by her, sets your heart afire to stay.
(instrumental), get rid of your list it's Amy
Ply her with bonbons, poetry, and flowers, moon a million hours away.
You might be quite the fickle-hearted rover so carefree and bold
Who loves a girl and later thinks it over and just quits cold.
But once in love with Amy, always in love with Amy
Ever and ever sweetly you'll romance her, trouble is the answer will be
