Good morning, all!  I slept late; just didn't want to get out of bed.  I'm sure it's depression because I'm going through too much stress at the moment, and I'm not happy about it.  On the plus side, I've got great friends around me as well as here at HHW, and I'm not living in a refrigerator carton on the street.

Today, I promised my best friend from college who now lives in Brooklyn to see THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND (a real laugh riot, I'm sure!).  I am looking forward to it, but I suspect it will be a heavy film.  Before then, I have a few reports to look over and improve.

I'm listening to the new JACQUES BREL . . . revival cast recording.  Some of it is quite wonderful, but some of the arrangements strike me as deliberately bizarre.  Good cast, however.

TOD:  I believe the only oneacts I have seen in New York are those by my friends David Ives and Chris Durang, who are two very funny writers.  When I was acting, for some reason, I always ended up in absurdist plays: Daddy in both THE SANDBOX and THE AMERICAN DREAM, and two Ionesco cmedies: MAID TO MARRY and THE BALD SOPRANO.  I liked them all.

We are going to see the Putnam County Spelling Bee this afternoon. I don't know what I'll do until then. Maybe I will borrow some children and play.

I hope you enjoy it. It was my favorite musical of my NYC trip from two summers ago.

I just remembered that I also have HOLIDAY on my DVR, and I'm sure that's what I'll be watching and burning onto a DVD-R as I'm preparing and eating lunch.

Happy Birthday Edi!

Thanks, Ben!

I just returned from breakfast with Greg, my mom and her signifigant other at the French bakery in our neighborhood. The owners have become dear friends of ours (and I have the wasitline to prove it!) and it is one of the things I'll miss when we move. (Although I'll be better off for it!)

And speaking of DR Edi, I was thrilled and delighted to read that the second season of THE CLOSER comes out on DVD on May 29th! Can't wait to get my hands on this second season.

And we start back to The Closer on Monday. Don't know when we're going to be doing our next shoot with them, but I'm looking forward to hearing some of the gossip.

Sneak preview: this season, we meet Brenda's Dad!

LOL ~ great BD story!  The perfect blend of wacky, charming, and endearing (the kind of people I adore). How can anyone top their birthday greetings?  But Happy Birthday to you anyway!

I know I've told this story before, but it was before DR Karen joined us.

My grandmother was in an all-girl uke band. She used to have a picture of them lined up in a row, all standing on milk cans.

Underneath it, she had written: "Raised on milk".

That was my Ga-Ga!

Back from errands.  It's ver-r-r-r-ry cold here in SW Ohio today - and windy - BRRR!

TOD - In high school I was in a one-act called Overtones, in which 2 well-mannered ladies have tea together and converse while their alter-egos exchange what they're really thinking.  It was fun to play one of the suited ladies.

TOD...

BLACK COMEDY
 by Peter Shaffer

Original cast, Old Vic 1966

Brindsley Miller:  Derek Jacobi
Carol Melkett:  Louise Purnell
Miss Furnival:  Doris Hare
Colonel Melkett:  Graham Crowden
Harold Corringe:  Albert Finney
Schuppanzigh:  Paul Curran
Clea:  Maggie Smith
Georg Bamberger:  Michael Byrne

One of the funniest play in which I have ever appeared.  Sadly, it used to be paired with the rather unfunny WHITE LIARS, which is not nearly as good as BC.
