Yup...I'm here, but not for long. I, too, have a Space Odyssey to deal with in the morning. I have a lot of boxes in a storage unit (for which I'm paying $90 a month

) and I NEED to get them out of the storage unit (did I mention that I'm paying $90 a month for it??) so that I can stop paying the $90 a month for it.

Anyway, my sister is coming over (when I call her to tell her to come over) and we'll start moving boxes out of the storage unit into my garage. It'll take a while (meaning, several days) to get it all out, but when we do, I can stop paying $90 a month for the storage unit!

Good morning, all! Two things today: Toyland and the IRS. I have some proofreading in the office, then an afternoon with my calculator. Too much bliss, I tell ya.

I spent about 2 hours yesterday listening to the new cast album of JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL . . and the second. supplemental recording of the remainder of the score. I liked a lot of it, but I'm not sure why we had several numbers in French, since the point of the show is Brel in English. One of the French numbers is "Ne Me Quitte Pas," well-known in Rod McKuen's English adaptation "If You Go Away." Since Elly Stone sang Eric Blau's English version in the early 1960s in the Off-Broadway O OYSTERS!, why didn't they use his version, since Blau is the co-adaptor of the material? I also found some of it a bit hectic and more aggressive than the original recording, which remains my favorite. I think I'd rank this new recording after the Australian cast recording and definitely above the anemic TER set, which suffers from several things, including poor proofreading of the original French song titles.

There was a kid taking video at last night's concert. Ed was concerned that it would show up on YouTube. I told him about our recent experience and that YouTube can be a great tool for exposure, as long as they don't put up your whole product but just a sample.

The kid said that he never would have known about Ed if it hadn't been for YouTube, so whatdya do?

I bought the two local papers yesterday (I cancelled our subscriptions because they were piling up faster than a gazelle...could read them) because I love to read the "you born today" portion of the astrology column. I keep it posted on the fridge for the whole year. It's amazing how accurate it can be!

This year, according to the paper, is going to be one of the best. Yay! But apparently, in September things are all going to hell for both of us!

DR Tomofoz, thanks for your note about the birds.

I bought some new bird treats last night since I couldn't find any peanuts for them. They are little suet pellets that look and taste like peanuts but will give them even more fuel. They need it; it's so cold right now.

I will be interested to see it they like them or not. Sometimes when I add something new to the mix, I get new birds, too!

It has been the topic of much discussion, particularly the fact that on whatever website the contestants' bios were listed, Julia was listed as a "temp worker". I haven't seen the site and don't know Julia---I don't think she's posted since I join the site.

But now, looking at her bio on NBC:

she does list herself as an actress. And a fellow Aquarian!

I guess in a way I am a "temp worker" too. (Especially when I'm cutting "temp tracks"!)

I'm sort of with you on this. I loathed the film, thought it was a lot of pretentious twaddle with those symbolic monoliths, and I never want to see it again. It makes you appreciate films like HILLBILLYS IN A HAUNTED HOUSE all the more.
