vixmom - Just to clarify, Daniel McDonald lived in our building and was always very friendly as a general rule, seemed to be a really lovely considerate person, but we know him mainly for his fine work onstage.

Good morning to all my DR friends on the best site on the internet! I'm biding the time until I play dress up and prepare for the funeral service. As DR Ginny mentioned, it is snowing again and it will be a long 2 hours at the reception and I'd guess another hour for the funeral, at least both are indoors!, and then a chilly stand at the gravesite. I may go out and get drunk with Randy and Jo Ann tonight.

Dear friend BK, I'm not surprised at interest in The Brain! I mentioned it to two of my NYMF producers, and I know you've been in contact with one of them. Perhaps they could combine and take The Brain to the Big Apple?

Well, it's only 10, but I have news to report. I have cleared the driveway and salted and it seems to be melting nicely. The snowfall seems to be tapering off, so I will probably be able to get out. The funeral home isn't too far from here.

I called the non-emergency dispatcher at the police department and gave her a description and license # for the mystery van that's been in front of our house since Tuesday morning. She just called back to tell me that she'd spoken to the business that owns it and they weren't aware it was still here (how can you misplace a van that size?). She said they said they'd try to move it, but might have to wait for the snow to melt. The rest of us managed to get mobile again by Thursday morning, so that sounds pretty lame to me.

I have a little bit left to watch on the second disc of the Criterion BICYCLE THIEVES. After that, I have a long list of TV shows from Thursday and Friday nights that are yet unseen. I even recorded THE GHOST WHISPERER last night to give it another try.

The last book I read was William Mann's dissection of the life and times of Katharine Hepburn. It's a dense book, especially in the early section - perhaps a bit too clinical for my taste as he observes the people, places, and events that may have made Kate who she eventually became once she gained fame. Still, once I got past that, the book served up lots of dish, gobs of information about her personal life I didn't know about at all from other biographies I had read, and finally a harrowing portrait of her final years. I wouldn't have missed this for the world!

Of course, I'm about 2/3 of the way through HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. It's an easy read, of course, but I find some days I'm just not in the mood for the fantasy, so that's why it's taking me so long to get through it. (Well, that and it's almost 800 pages long, too.)
