Dear M(cutie)Barnum,

I think your idea for a HHW fete in the Big Apple is a splendid idea.  And sometime around (but not earlier than) the 25th of June would be Fabulous !

There......... I haven't gotten to say "Fabulous" in too long.

I watched a horrendous motion picture today as well.....2 1/2 hours worth. I know not why I stuck with it.

Now I must watch another Bollywood movie...

JHANSI KI RANI (1952) A nifty true adventure story of a sword wielding adventuress...one of India's first color films and quite a big hit as I understand.

The film was also released in the U.S. under the title THE TIGER AND THE FLAME, but all the musical numbers were cut out, along with cutting down the scenes with the Hindi actors thus giving the impressiong that the caucasion characters were the the main characters, and everyone was dubbed into English.

I thought that timing would be good also as that is when I (hopefully) will be in NY if my plans hatch accordingly.

And now I'm going with my sister to Costco.  Then, I get to work concessions at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts where Capitol Steps are performing tonight!  It should be a VERY rowdy croud. :)

I love them! How was it?

A fun thing about the Brain CD...listening to it in my car stereo has given me a better appreciation of the lyrics...sometimes when you are watching a musical you don't catch all of the words because you are paying so much attention to the goings on on stage.

Now I am catching all of the references to various sci-fi film titles and it cracks me up!

I also have a much greater appreciation of DR Cason's voice. I was enjoying his performance so much that I didn't even pay attention to the fact that he is quite the singer! I should like to hear more of his voice on CD someday.

And Egbert really needs to hie himself to the nearest voiceover studio and get work as a voice actor in cartoons anc commercials. He certainly has a talent there.

The last book I read was a Fredric Brown novel, WE ALL KILLED GRANDMA.  I realized about halfway through, I had already read it several years ago, but I remembered little about it, so I finished it.  My god, has it come to this...I'm going to have to keep notebooks of what I've read and what I haven't anymore?  Before that ,I read a Nichols Bracewell mystery by John Marston.  Bracewell is a bookholder with an Elizabethan theatre company that seems to get beset by more mysteries and murders than any in London and redoubtable Nicholas must figure them out...they are fun palate-cleansers between more serious fare.

I also read an interesting play by Helen Edmundson called THE CLEARING about Cromwell's attempt to solve the "Irish problem" by simply eradicting them from the face of the earth.  It was Cromwell's English soldiers that actually started the practice of scalping (not American Indians) when a bounty was put on the heads of Irish men, women, and children. Instead of the heads as proof, they just started bringing in the scalps.  It was the English who introduced the practice to the American Indians.

I'm going to re-read the SCARLET LETTER because I've had an offer of being commissioned to write it as a play.  It looks as daunting, forbidding, and as inervating as it did in ninth grade.

BK, you made me nostalgic and jealous talking about the Courts show.  I remember how we used to prowl the place together.  Did you ask Bert I. about our Frankenstein script?

I sped ahead to the end of the episode.

Which was full of hot air.

- I opened a bottle of Sparkling Raspberry Apple Cider that I received for New Year's.

I served a bottle of this to the Grandlads with Christmas dinner (which they really enjoyed).

I also enjoy it with saurkraut and pork - not as filling as Ale.

Pogue - Bert, who is eighty-four, didn't seem to have any memory of the script or even the project.  Go know.

Ah, music to a mother's ears.  DR MBarnum, you are earning major points with your Cason posts!

Back from Pippin - first time I ever wanted to walk from a job - well maybe the second - I'm just irritated by Musical Directors who can't admit that they might be wrong.

DR MBarnum - If you do indeed plan to come to NYC that week, I'd suggest making your hotel reservations now - if you plan to stay in a hotel.  NYC hotel rates still continue to climb.  Otherwise, we do have a nice backyard here.  -And I also have a nice Aerobed too if that suits you better.

DR Matthew - I hate when that type of situation arises.  -And I just came from similar circumstances in DC.  It really is sad when all that matters is Thursday - a.k.a. Pay Day.

Ah, music to a mother's ears.  DR MBarnum, you are earning major points with your Cason posts!

And I shall most likely be sent to my room by offering that, Cason notwithstanding, I found "Stages" a more enjoyable listen than "Brain".

(Obviously my opinion might be radically altered if I saw the show staged; or, as is sometimes the case, on repeated listening.)

der Brucer

This is not to say I did not thoroughly enjoy Brain
