BK, I know it's not Wednesday (Ask BK Day), but I have a question. The David Shire "At the Movies" CD will be a limited edition. Will it be a numbered, limited edition?

TOTD: productions of Sweeney Todd, Chess and a supposed "reading" of "Pacific Overtures" were the best non-professional shows I have seen. The "Sweeney Todd" was the first production in this country and replicated the Broadway/London staging etc - though scaled down a little. DP and I had seen the London proudction the year before. "Chess" was way better than the professional production and actually made sense! (The best production as DR George will attest, is the Swedish one from a few years back).

Pacific Overtures was wonderful and very moving. It was not an Asian cast but nevertheless worked very well with minimal sets and certainly "off book" with the cast who had worked so hard.

A gay Motorcycle club from San Diego put on an all male production of Dames at Sea (real singing, not lip-sync) which was more enjoyable than a lot of stuff I saw at Long Beach Civic Light Opera.

"G:TOTYW" has Frankie Avalon singing "Beauty School Dropout" to all of the Sandy hopefuls. All of the girls' wigs are the same color as their outfits!

As for the Topic of the Day... I used to go to a bunch of the community theatre productions in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia, while I was in high school. Some of those groups did some truly amazing and wonderful work.

At TAP (The Arlington Players) - Sweeney Todd (I also subbed in the pit for this one too), Follies, and a truly exceptional production of Children of a Lesser God.

And then at LTA (Little Theatre of Alexandria) - Joseph... and Oklahoma.

Oh.. A couple of minutes ago, I went ahead and boiled four cups of water, then stirred in a cup of Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal. Then all I have to do in the morning - or whenever I get up - is heat and eat. -And I'll have enough oatmeal for four days. Very convenient.

HMS Pinafore by one of three (I think at that time) Gilbert and Sullivan groups in Montreal. I had previously see the professional company Doyle Carte Opera from London do The Mikado. I thought that it was just as good. Sets, Costumes and voices were all up to par of The Mikado production.

I didn't actually watch the show, just saw bits and pieces. How on earth did chad get into the bottom 4?

I get kathleen and i even get kate. ANd i totally get kevin. But how did derek stay safe while chad was in danger. I am really confused by that.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing the acting segments. Kathleen must be one really good actress!
