Back from rehearsal - we had a very sick Merissa on our hands, so we cut it short.  But all the music is now routined and arranged except for two things, so we'll be ready to get this thing on its feet starting next Monday.

So, maybe what we'll do is this: I'll list say thirty titles and say how many copies there are.  Then anyone who's interested in those titles e-mails me immediately, and I put together the list and when they're gone, then I stop the list there.  If there were more takers than CDs then I guess I could just randomly throw the names into our electronic hat and decide - but mostly everyone would get what they wanted, I'm thinkin'.  So, I may go to storage on Saturday and begin this process - listing let's say twenty titles to start.  When those are gone, then another twenty.

I think we need some frenzies, don't you?  I thought we'd break our record by this evening.  Of course, I never thought the day would come when I'd say 300 posts seemed like a slow news day!

Why, hello HHW friends :D

Having read all of today's messages:

Laura- when I look at that picture of Johnny Depp, my first reaction is to smile and how adorable he is. That's what watching the entire movie does to you.

On the subject of Johnny Depp and Sweeney Todd, Sondheim did a vocal check for all of the actors in the movie, and if they weren't vocally up to par with his standards, he wouldn't allow them to participate. I'm assuming, then, that Johnny is sufficiently talented.

HOW ARE YOU ALL???

Things are going swimmingly for me- I'm finishing up my last month or so of my freshman year at James Madison University as a Vocal Music Education major. This year has been absolutely crazy, and I've loved every minute of it. I'm getting opportunities as a vocalist that just blow my mind, and I've learned so much as a musician. The entire cumulative experience has been a blast. In a year, I've performed in The Magic Flute, performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association, been in a performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass, passed my juries with all A's, recorded a CD, got a church job that I'll be able to keep until I graduate, been exposed to some of the most talented musicians in the world, and this has only been the first year! I'm so excited to see what's coming up next.

Oh, I guess I should add that completely errant and truant member Maya has been accepted at the Yale School of Drama to study Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism! She's finishing up her last semester here at JMU and is beyond thrilled to be going there.

It's so nice to see so many familar and new faces! I hope you're all doing well :D

I would think that that greatly limits you. Are you not, JRand, a dancer?

Well, Yes I am....more choreographer now....and I suppose I have been known to shake it all about to music, now that you mention it.  ;D

But I can use some vibes for three different things going on in my life.

1) My back is acting up again and I am in a lot of pain. Hard to walk and hard to sit for long periods of time.

2) lost my cell phone and of course I didn't have a phone list backed up.

3) My position at work is being phased out and they now have to find a place for me in the store. To start: I will be a greater. I think it is time after 8 years to try and find another job or at least a location with a better job.

So, maybe what we'll do is this: I'll list say thirty titles

You could list each one as a separate post. That would be a whole page and quite a frenzy!

DR MBarnum - As for those Tamari and Seaweed Rice Cakes...  Well, I guess know you know that Tamari is Japanese soy sauce.  -Which most definitely does not go with coffee.  However, maybe with some tuna salad...

Soooooooyyyyyyyyyyy Sauce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :P

DR SwishySarah!  Wasn't I talking to Mark Falconer recently about you?

It sounds as if school is going amazingly well.  What did you do in the Magic Flute?

Shayne, unfortunately I don't have any On The Waterfront CDs nor any of the film music titles I did.  Of course, I have the Beechman CDs.  What I'm going to do is start at the front of the storage facility and pull the first thirty boxes.  Then we'll go from there.  I have pretty much everything but a handful of titles.

Great SHIRE review, thanks for the link, MR BK.

I have been working working working on the Allison Hayes bio....and in trying to make it the definitive INTERNET bio....it has turned into quite the task, but I want it to be accurate and THE place to go for information for the casual OR the obsessed fan alike.

Pictures will be included.  But it will take a bit longer than I thought.

My concern isn't that he's "weird" (either in his acting or personal life) but about the quality of his voice.  I didn't like the casting of Gerard Butler as the Phantom because he's not a trained singer, which I (personally) feel is really necessary for that role.  I (again, personally) feel that the part of Sweeney Todd/Benjamin Barker also requires an actor with vocal training, which Johnny Depp doesn't have.  I know that he's a good actor, but I would've wished for a really good singer, since it basically is an opera. :-\

Believe me; I share your concern. I was talking strictly about the fact that he doesn't always play weird e. g. FINDING NEVERLAND.  I have never thought he could sing the role, and unless they're dubbing him, I'm afraid the music will be compromised.

Well, since I'm a freshman, and had only been in Harrisonburg for 5 days before my audition, they put all of us in the chorus, but I was also an understudy for one of the spirits. I had never been in an opera before, so it was a great way to kickoff the academic year. I'm not sure what the opera will be next semester, but I've developed enormously as a vocalist this year (as a result of having an INCREDIBLE voice teacher, Dr. In Dal Choi), so I'm hoping that partial seniority and talent will warrant me a larger role.

OH!

DR Swishy Sarah - HI!  And I was going to ask who your voice teacher is, and you already answered.  Dr. Choi is very good.  I remember him from countless NATS conferences/competitions.
