Well, you've read the notes, you know all about that later, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - more about that later.

I thought I had a horrible nightmare and Woody was torturing me by feeding me meat-less meatballs!

Oh God - it's true:

Quote
Meatless Meatballs - MORE MOIST & TASTY!The principle ingredient in all Quorn products is mycoprotein (“myco” is Greek for “fungi”). The mycoprotein comes from Fusarium venenatum, which was originally discovered growing in a field in Buckinghamshire, England.

You can find them at FUNGUS AMONGUS

And, yes, his store carries the bloody damnable things!

TOD: First news group--The Little Criminals, which is a Randy Newman fan site. I've been E&T there for about 6 months though because of the many flame wars between members. It just wasn't worth it to wade through that much negativity to find the good stuff. Some other members left for the same reason. But I check in from time to time, in hopes that it will return to its former glory. Needless to say, the short story YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE from DIRTY BOOK resonated with me.

I made a lot of great friends there and still keep in touch with them. I'm even friends with some of the flamers, but boy, the internet can bring out the ugly side of some people! It's nice to be here, where seldom is heard a discouraging word. I don't know if it's because we have a moderator who actually moderates, or if it's the people who are drawn here (probably both) but it's a relief to see that a site can exist without its members devolving into immature chidren "acting out"!

When I was in LA a few weeks ago, I got to see quite a few of the Newman group, including DR BrettySpaghetti and Dear Friend Susan. I'm glad Bretty has joined in (he was already a fan of Bruce's CD's) and I hope Susan will de-lurk and join us, too!

First website visited: Jadebox.com (a Harry Nilsson website--but now I only go there for info) and eBay, which I occasionally visit and place bids.

It's only temporary---the kitties woke me up earlier than usual for their treat.

I just read our local paper online---that was just as cheerful as Sylvia Plath.

I don't remember what the first website(s) that I went to were.  It/they might've been work related.  We got computers at work in the very early 1990s, before ANY security was in place...we could go ANYWHERE on the Internet...and did! :o

The first couple of computers that I got were hand-me-downs.  One was bought at my library's surplus sale.  It was a 286!  And I don't even remember what that means!

I'll say - the Chalk Festival had to share time with the Long Beach Grand Prix:

From left, Kendra Wilkinson, Aisha Tyler, Kelly Hu, Emily Procter, and George Lucas on the track before the start of the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Saturday during the Toyota Grand Prix weekend in Long Beach.
Steven Georges/Press-Telegram

And the Cambodian New Years Festival:

I've never gone to any bulletin board, but the first newsgroup that I subscribed to was the Sondheim newsgroup.  I subscribed to Castrecl, but there were SO MANY posts/messages, it got to be too much to keep up with.  I do still subscribe to the Sondheim newsgroup, as well as the Manhattan Transfer newsgroup.  That's it.

Original IBM PC used an Intel 8086 Chip (PC-XT used an 8088)

The next generation was the IBM AT  using the Intel 286 chip; followed by the 386, then the 486, then the Pentium series.

AT was IIRC the first Windows capabae machine.

Today was Woody's scheduled day off - but no need to wait for the frantic phone call: they told him last night they were moving his day off to Thursday and to please show up at 8:30 to wrangle for a full eight hours!

He is snoozing!
Fletcher is snoozing - and dreaming!

I am going to bed before it's oatmeal time!

The thing about opera is that the unamplified human voice, pushed to its limits, hits the core of what makes us human...

They asked, with a "could you" and a "please".  That's not the same as "told."

And what the        were you doing up all night?  Most unseemly.

By the way - I was snoozing and dreaming, too.  I just don't make little woofing noises, and my paws don't twitch, the way Fletcher does.

TOD -

First group I was ever with was over at Sondheim.com.  That's where someone had a daily column called The Real A.  I can't be bothered with that group any more - the fellow who was in charge of the site let someone else take over, who was a real bully.  That, and der Brucer also started posting there, under a pseudonym, and when that finally leaked everyone refused to believe that I hadn't known who he'd been.  (Der B can keep a secret.)  It was well worth my while to wash my hands of the whole group.

Yes, I will be a-wrangling all day today.  Fortunately, it's been quite wonderful here in Rehoboth the last few days, weatherwise.  Unfortunately, I've been working with a head/chest cold.  Bleh.
